I will go ahead and lay my prediction down now and by golly if I’m not right, I’ll be surprised:

220 FT RMC.

They saw the success with Iron Gwazi and others, they know it would be a profitable attraction which can fit in a relatively compact area, and it will play off the relative success of InvadR having both wood and steel.

Drachen theme can apply here and it be a done deal, eclipsing Twisted Timbers and many others, Steel Vengeance included.

Spire is on the back burner IMO.

PS - bet on a strange name like “Drachen IRE.” 😅

PSS - “Iron Drachen” works just fine…

I’m honestly shocked. The “take Drachen Spire back to the drawing board” thing seemed like such a thoosie dream scenario that was never grounded in reality. Between the Madrid/Pantheon package deal, the fight they went through for the height waiver and all those hearings, the entire intent of the ride being to be a marketable record-breaker - it made zero sense to me for them to scrap it for what most of us would perceive as a “better” attraction.

Everybody’s gonna assume RMC with this - I still have a hard time buying that Intamin isn’t involved. I guess Darkoaster could have fulfilled their “Madrid package deal?” But the math of “Pantheon + Darkoaster = Madrid” doesn’t add up to me the same way it did with Spire.

And yeah I know they could still do Drachen Spire and build whatever this is around it but that just feels…like even more of a long shot than scrapping Drachen Spire did.

No evidence to back this up, but I'm sure Intamin would be willing to let Spire go if SEAS agreed to a few more Intamin projects elsewhere. Maybe a prototype launched log flume at SWSA? Maybe a prototype multi-lap family coaster at BGW? Maybe more elsewhere in the chain for 2024...? Just food for thought.

With this information now released and with it's location along with Drachen Spire you would have to think that the traffic it will bring to this normally little used part of the park will now increase the odds that a Festhaus train station being built would finally happen.

I’d imagine they might have reroute the train if this addition requires it.

I mean, there are A LOT of records that can be broken with a 220 foot tall coaster...
Yea. I hear you. But by definition a 300ft one is iconic. Look at Superman. That is a petty lame ride if you think about it. Up and down. It’s a glorified drop tower. But because it is 400ft tall it is iconic.

I would think a giga would sell more seats than whatever this is but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Oh, trust me, I get it. I'm one of the few Spire loyalist out there I think. I'd still really love to see it happen, but I do also suspect that whatever this is is probably going to be better than Spire woulda been ride-wise. Marketability-wise though? I agree that a 220ft coaster could be a downgrade in that department—we'll just have to wait and see.

Like I alluded to at the end of the article, I do believe this project could start to move very quickly. If that February construction start date sticks, we could see plans very, very soon.
