2025 is shaping up to be one of the finest years for Virginia theme parks since 1975. Two well thought-out, highly themed, beautifully landscaped coasters (B&Ms no less!) opening in the same year. What a time to be alive.

Shouldn't that be mulch, and not loose pine straw? Seems like one rainstorm and all that is gone🤣 Does look good though, and will look even better when the grass grows in.

I shouldn't care as much as I do, but this is sooooo unbelievably tacky. Just wild to me that this isn't a printed graphic.
It appears to be just a fun thing the CMs are doing. Not anything that needs a printed graphic.

Just some future thinking on two spots:
Yellow - I wonder if they would ever expand something small into this area here. I think it would be a great spot for some small things that could be on the 'outskirts' of the town or it could be a "wolf's den" themed area.

Blue - What's in this area? I feel like it's a nice little expansion plot to make more out of the village and add a flat or two while adding themed areas, and even done right it could add some extra viewing angles of BBW2.

No. Rain causes the pine straw to compress and because the needles intertwine everything stays in place. Pine bark or hardwood mulch would be much more susceptible to washing out than pine straw. Pine straw requires less maintenance and looks better in a wooded area then pine bark or hardwood mulch, because it blends with the environment.

Yellow is where the Black Forest picnic area is, and blue is where the new special event building is.

Or a train station...?
Apologies for the double post, I tried to edit it into the one above, but couldn’t figure out how.

Iirc, there can’t be a train station in Festhaus Park because of how steep the railroad tracks are. If a train were to stop there, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to get it moving again.

I do recall hearing that, and there is indeed a climb from the trestle bridge all the way past the signaled Festhaus crossing.

The stretch beyond that, though, immediately behind the Festhaus, seems incredibly flat.

Online topographic maps have a way of being approximate as soon as you seek out detail -- but James City County's topo data suggests the highest point on the entire BGW train line lies immediately behind the Black Forest picnic area, where the ground levels out completely (slightly downhill, even) for the run behind the Festhaus building. Again, it's approximate, but very consistent with observation as a train rider.

While access through or around a huge restaurant/entertainment building isn't ideal, it would be pretty cool to hop off the train and immediately enter the park's signature eatery. For people with mobility challenges and families with young kids, it may be the most useful in-place infrastructure improvement the park could make.

Particularly if BBW2 proves to be highly popular, and/or if some additional investments go into Oktoberfest over time.

Train loading and unloading is far too slow, having another stop would suck. I swear back in the 90s the process was quick, and it made sense to hop on if you knew a train was just around the corner. Maybe my memory is skewed
