Wing coasters are viewed to me the same as a dive. Im hanging off the track on both. Only difference is theres no shitty vest restraint (atleast for griffons sake) and the track is eye level with you. Other than that I don't see the apeal of a wing

I see your point, but on a dive coaster you also aren’t guaranteed to be outside of the track. Depending on park operations, you can just as easily end up in the middle of a row, then it becomes more of a floorless coaster.

I got 3 more rides today. I will say if you ride the front left the visual on the launch into the wing over is NUTS. You just see the track pull hard to the right and up in front of you and your brain does not pick it up properly and on the outside seat especially it throws me off and I’m giggling as I’m zipping over the turn. I know a lot of people were skeptical of that first element but honestly that shit slaps.

Front right has the opposite, feels like track is going to hit your feet. No matter how much I know it won’t, the visual trips me out.

I got four rides in today. First ride was in the left side, front row, outside seat. Second ride was right side, back row, outside seat. Third ride was the same as the second except I sat on in inside seat. And my last ride was left side, fourth row, outside. From what I've noticed, the right side seems more fun going over the overbanked turn. Not sure what but I felt more of the drop on that side. While it could've been because it was my first ride of the day, the launch in the front seat seemed more forceful compared to the back. And I will agree the inside seat was much more smoother than the outside but I do love the outside seats especially on the left side when going over the Jungle X pathway. Everything considered, it's such a great addition to the park's line up. Can't wait to get a night ride in later this season.

I guess I’ll go ahead and plop my review here:

Overall rating: 8/10

Very fun ride, but it’s a little bouncy if you sit on an outside seat. I rode 3 times today; front left outside, back right inside and front left inside. My favorite ride was the front left inside.

I know opinions differ, but the inside seats run smoother to me. Not saying it’s a rough ride, because it’s not really, but if you want a less bouncy experience, sit on the inside seat.

I feel like the captaincoaster score is gonna take a hit by thoosies claiming roughness. I rode with some enthusiasts that traveled down for it, they rode in the back left seat and we came back into the brakes with them saying it was “terrible” for the roughness. I was honestly flabbergasted in that moment. There is vibration and bounciness on Rapterra but it doesn’t really impact the ride like it does on Iron Menace (which is not significant either really just more noticeable than Rapterra).

I will say after I got on X-Flight last year there is 0 difference between that ride and Rapterra in this regard. Wild Eagle did seem like it was glass smooth I’d need to go back and ride again now with Rapterra open to see if there’s a noticeable difference at all. Regardless, claiming the ride is “terrible” or that it’s one of the worst wings because of “roughness” is a bit extreme of a take honestly. I even saw The Coaster Spot say it was “no Wild Eagle” “no Thunderbird” “no Gatekeeper” in his vlog from it and man I could not disagree more. It’s probably the best B&M built in the US since Candymonium and Orion.

My KD top 5 (I've ridden Rapterra 11 times so far):
  1. The artist formerly known as I-305
  2. Rapterra
  3. Grizzly
  4. Dominator
  5. Twisted Timbers
Call me crazy, but I try to not give in to thoosie groupthink!
Yes but I’m an accountant and I want KD to have “3 90+s” for “……. Reasons!”

But I agree it’s why I have X2 at #6 but also overwhelmingly disagree with the idea a Floorless is superior to an RMC.

Personally?

  1. Pantherian (so long as nothing has changed about the ride itself, which i doubt.)
  2. Rapterra
  3. Grizzly
  4. Twisted Timbers
  5. Flight of Fear

I think the launch puts it over Grizzly and TT, but I find I am liking Grizzly more and more, I always did like it, even when it was rough as hell.
As I get older, I'm not as much of a fan of the sharp airtime pops that TT does. I still love the triple camelbacks, though.

Last year I would have done:
  1. P305
  2. Twisted Timbers
  3. Grizzly
  4. FoF
  5. Dominator

1. I305
2. Twisted Timbers (very close 2nd place for me; on a good day I might like it more than I305)
3. Grizzly
4. Racer 75
5. Dominator
6. Flight of Fear
7. Backlot
8. Reptilian
9. Rapterra
10. Tumbili

This is my honest opinion for right now. It could change as I continue to visit the the park over the coming months.

This is Apple Zapple erasure!

Some people prefer not to be punched in the stomach by the lap bar repeatedly like Twisted Timbers and some other RMCs do. Great coasters don't have to hurt, despite what the thoosie vloggers may believe.
