The line was ridiculous, I got in line at the Jungle X sign and ended up right at the second cattle pen before I decided to tap out. It was about a 2:15 hour wait, my back was hurting, the ride kept breaking down, and I was tired. I had a prestige pass so I ended up using my free Fast Lane, made it past the merge point and the ride broke down a fourth time. Rode second to last row on the left wing. Then I scored a second Fast Lane later in the night and rode front row, right wing.

Some of the queue elements were really cool. I love the tunnel with the bulletin boards covered with callbacks to previous rides in the area. I thought that was a nice touch. Same goes for the temple and the smoldering volcano.

The line was moving at a slow, steady pace, but the ride kept breaking down for short periods. That definitely screwed with the wait times a lot. I know some people waited 3 hours. IDK if I could muster that. Operations were also a bit slow and they kept sending empty rows constantly.

The launch was pretty cool. It has a surprisingly good kick to it. B&M is doing a fantastic job with their launches. They're all pretty punchy.
I love the swoopy elements,. They're all really fun.
There is a bounce. It doesn't really affect the ride much. I'm not a huge fan of the vests. Its fine during the ride but once the train stops, you can feel it slowly tighten. I had my phone in my breast pocket and it was digging into my collarbone.
The little wave turn over the entrance plaza is probably my favorite element on the ride. I also love the roll at the end.
I do like that the ride interacts well with the queue and the entrance plaza.
I do wish there were more near miss elements on the ride. Wing coasters really shine when they get close to the scenery.

The park has a winner on their hands. The ride is really fun. I wouldn't wait more than an hour for it though. I do think opening the park to all passholders and including it on Fast Lane might've screwed the lines up.

I noticed this in the station yesterday, the scaffolding around the statues in the “dig site” looked old, and some pieces even had some concrete a bit encrusted on them, so I was wondering is this made out of pieces from the inside of the actual volcano structure?

From the one ride that I got last night, I can proudly say that Rapterra is the third best coaster in the park behind Pantherian and TwiTim, and the third best B&M in the state behind Alpengeist and Griffon. This ride packs so much into a somewhat short layout, my favorite part has to be the 1-2 punch of the airtime hill followed by the heartline roll before the brakes. It’s a little bit shaky, but nothing that ruins the experience.

I’d say Rapterra is the #2 VA B&M but I also like wing coasters and launch coasters more than dive coasters generally…..so kinda unfair to ole Griffon.

Finally got my first rides today, let me just say what a wonderful addition to the park. The whole area just buzzes with energy now and it almost feels like Jungle X was designed around it and not the other way round. The rides I got (left back row wing seat and right front inner seat) were not rattley at all, just a bit bouncy, but I understand that wing coasters are like that. The bounce is not uncomfortable nor painful and doesn’t negatively affect the ride (for me anyways). The launch is surprisingly punchy and the wing over was great on both sides but the raptor roll might be my favorite element overall with its hang time. My son was super excited having gotten to watch it being built all last year, and then watching a million YouTube videos about it. He ended up loving it, saying it was his favorite ride in the park and 2nd favorite overall with the launch being his favorite part.

Rapterra was averaging 25-30 minute waits at the end of the day. That’s basically if you see a full corner switchback it’s basically 30 minutes if they push trains. I got 3 rides in today and my first ride on passholder preview which was on the back right side. Today I rode all on the left side in rows 1, 3, and 4.

I will say I absolutely love the presence the ride has in Jungle X and how quiet the train really is. KD went above and beyond to make the ride a spectacle. My first ride at night we shot out over the wing over I was hanging and I just looked down at all the guests looking up at the train and this image gives me chills in a way because it really hit home how big of a hit the ride is for the park. This is KDs “Griffon” in a sense and I 100% get why the line was out past the Jungle X sign.

I really enjoyed the ride it’s #3 in the park for me now possibly #5 in the state for me. The wing over creates some wild forces and visuals and no other wing has that thing. The left side is preferred here for forces and arguably visuals but the right side is not forceless I found from row 5 and the drop down was very fun.

The dive loop is fun it’s not what I was expecting honestly the train loses quite a bit of speed at the top but not long enough for actual hangtime. But it’s very funky and I liked the visuals as we would begin to dive each time. I don’t really think this element is one I have much of a take on for either side of the train.

The S turn? Uhhhhhh. I noticed some forces in row 4 on the left side. Otherwise this element did not really do that much for me but that’s fine. Perhaps I just need more rides in different seats. I do think the S turn is better on the left.

The turnaround over the pathway visually is going to be better on the left side. The Wing slide element in row 5 had a noticeable yank that gave me some good airtime in the back row on the right side. I will say element was just more “floaty” on the left side and would prefer the right side for it.

The final 3 elements are all excellent to close out the ride. You get that “hangtime” “airtime” “hangtime” strong G turn into the brakes and give Rapterra a very fun finale.

Also, did anyone notice the “launch audio” I finally noticed the full sequence when I was at the viewing area by FOF. Could barely hear it in line.

I will comment the outside seats are very very bouncy and it does impact the ride experience if you don’t want a “bouncy” ride. Overall I really like Rapterra. I think honestly I need to ride Thunderbird again to say one is better than the other. If Thunderbird rides noticeably smoother it’s the better of the two launched swings. Rapterra has better pacing but if it it’s much bouncier than Thunderbird it’s tough to call it better but I need to ride Thunderbird again only rode it twice in the back on each side before the Voyage was like “wtf you doin up there??”

Scored 10 more rides this evening. Absolutely love this ride. It is so perfect for the park, I’m so glad everything played out the way it did and we have this ride now. All but one of my rides were assigned to the right side, so I got a much better feel for different seats. I definitely noticed the shake with more rides, but it’s still not something I’m overly complaining about. Of my rides, I found that row 2 was the smoothest of the outer seats.

Some other observations:

1. They really need to do something about this queue- the single rope handrail just doesn’t cut it. The amount of people I saw just tonight hopping over/under the handrail, to either outright cut the line, or jump between the exit and queue to reride, was really crazy & frustrating to watch. Considering how easy the rope is to get around, and combined with the loose gravel and rocks there, I am really worried that It is literally only a matter of time before something seriously bad occurs.

Just tonight, I saw more than one person throwing rocks at the green fabric wall between Rapterra & Reptilian. I understand that you can't account for every Murphy's Law scenario, but now seeing how this first weekend has gone with live guests, I really hope some measures are taken to prevent some POS from throwing a phone-sized chunk of concrete at a moving coaster train.

2. Just before closing, a pair of guests exiting Rapterra attempted to exit the ride through the tunnel leading to the launch track. I will assume it was a mistake on their part, but I heard one of the operators say this happened twice yesterday. Wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually install an automatic gate like Dominator has, though that may require a full ride reprogramming to add that into the 'system'.

I agree with you, we are one idiot away from a massive piece of rock being thrown at the train. Add hot summer days, and alcohol. I’m worried.

Maybe netting between posts will help prevent guest interaction with it, but I saw multiple kids chucking rocks around.

Adding loose rocks was a major fumble on KD’s part primarily because this coaster does have a lot of guest interaction.

I feel like, unfortunately, this action of a few is why some parks feel justified in their “unthemed parking lot coaster” approach to additions to the park.

I think the loose rocks are fine, there just needs to be a better handrail that blocks the ability to reach them, or have other theme elements where the train gets close to the queue.

I noticed a lot of inside/outside and from/back convo in regards to rattle.

Anything anyone can say about right vs left experience with the elements?
