I know exactly what happened, but I can't say much. Second paragraph under the header Mount Doom in the article below is what I've shared publicly.

I’ll bet they found Smurf bites on the track…

It’s been 5 years, unless something illegal occurred, I don’t understand the secrecy. The public has a right to know why the most beloved coaster at the park closed suddenly. So in the spirit of that, I’m going to assume something highly illegal occurred, and this is a massive coverup operation.

There is, obviously, a cover-up operation perpetrated by Kings Dominion. The complete silence around the ride wasn't a mistake. On one hand, that is far from abnormal for a coaster closure. On the other hand, this was a pretty exceptional case.

The reason I can't be more specific about what I have heard is because different sources have access to/have been provided different details and revealing exactly which details I do and don't know could compromise sources. I shared the info that was most widely known internally and that's what I'm comfortable putting out in writing right now.

Protecting these sources is obviously the #1 priority—it is a moral imperative and, just practically speaking, you'll never see anything like that leaked, proposed wing layout again if I were to start playing fast and loose with source protection. We've had some insane scoops over the years. Those are only possible due to my record of extreme caution.

Time to call Woodward and Bernstein…

I think it took about 10 years for the completely innocent and understandable explanation for Big Bad Wolf's removal to occur. obviously that wasn't as sudden or as shocking but as a rule of thumb these things Usally don't get talked about a whole lot.

At first I was kind of disappointed that the S-hill didn’t end up an inversion like the mockups and it was probably my least favorite looking part of the layout, but honestly starting to think they made the right choice. The laterals could potentially be crazy with the winged seating and the shaping looks pretty snappy. Will probably take the element fairly quickly too with the 5 car trains. I’m excited for it now!

Exiting the dive loop I imagine the trains will pick up a good head of steam and since it goes directly into this S hill I think it will be pretty awesome. The left side seats will be moving upwards from essentially below the track to above the track as the train rotates through that transition. Then while that’s happening the track drops and twists, so it should provide for some cool forces. I think I’m more excited for the S hill than a second corkscrew
