There’s a percentage of thoosies out there who will refuse to acknowledge anything positive about a new roller coaster because it’s not an intamin or an RMC. Unfortunately, the most optimal sensations from G forces don’t quite influence park and parent company relationships with coaster vendors as much as maintenance cost does.

I’m stoked. While the dream would have been a rebuilt mountain with some kind of world class caliber, S tier multi launch coaster or the like…. I am more than happy to see this coaster in whatever final form it takes, instead of the empty gravel pit that has been there for the last 5 years. It’s been a thrill to watch more and more work be completed each time I go to the park and to see Haunted River and others updates. My son and I already loved Reptilian but getting to ride it so we could take a look at the construction has been a favorite activity this year. He never got to see the Volcano but will grow up with memories of this, and I can’t wait for us to get to ride this next year

Nobody to blame other than KD marketing. That video should have never been sent to stations like WRIC until tomorrow.

Eh, disagree. It's pretty standard for companies to enter into a contract with journalists to provide embargoed information ahead of release to enable said journalists to get their stories ready to go public alongside an announcement.

WRIC was definitely under one of those embargos and breaking it is a massive deal. Totally unacceptable that they leaked the POV.

THAT SAID, that Facebook ad leak was 100% Cedar Fair/KD marketing and that is such an incredibly stupid blunder that it almost absolves WRIC of their wrongdoing because if KD/Cedar Fair isn't even willing to put in the work required to protect their own info, why should WRIC do it for them (outside of the legal fact that the contract exists, of course)?

So yeah, both parties here are in the wrong and both should find what happened today incredibly embarrassing. That said, Cedar Fair/KD marketing fucked up a million times harder because this is literally their whole job and they have a direct vested interest in getting this release right. Heads should roll in whatever team is responsible for Facebook ads (likely corporate marketing).

Same here! My son has enjoyed seeing it all happen. He only knows the mountain from what I’ve showed him so his excitement to see this new ride is going to be a great memory for him. Hopefully this thing looks as good as it does in the POV!

I just know in the past we sent it to them (WRIC / WWBT / WTVR) on the day of announcement so this wouldn’t happen. WRIC makes so many mistakes that I’m not shocked that it happened.

Disappointed that this is the way we all found out. Literally less than a day away from the announcement. They kept it quiet for a year old to go down in flames right at the finish line 😆

Literally the third time in a row. Timbers, Tumbili, and Rapterra have all had their names/theme info leaked literally the day before their respective announcements now. The KD curse (read: the endless pattern of marketing incompetence) is real. 💀

I just don’t understand what’s the problem with this new coaster? You have a bunch of thoosies already complaining on fb and reddit about no near misses and saying it looks boring and slow. I kinda expect the GP to say something similar when the coaster is revealed. This looks 100x better than volcano i just don’t see why people are so negative.

The general public is going to LOVE this ride. If you go to Dollywood average parkgoers are always raving about Wild Eagle. I fully expect this to be similar with your average non-enthusiast guest. Especially considering it features a launch and several sections over the pathways. I will say I understand people’s disappointment about the lack of a keyhole or a near miss. It’s perfectly okay to feel disappointed by that. That is disappointing to a degree.

Those that feel the disappointment, here are your options:
1. Accept it, and embrace the cool new ride opening. The lack of a keyhole is a unfortunate but we’re getting an awesome new ride!
2. Refuse to accept it and cloud a thing you enjoy but do not control with negativity and complaining until you select Option 1, because it’s not what you want. Maybe even try to stop others from enjoying it with your refusal of acceptance. It’s important to remember this is something that’s meant to be fun and it is!

I fully expect coaster YouTube review videos to complain about the lack of a keyhole because that’s a bummer. They will likely then pivot to what makes the ride great and fun after that.

The ride looks like it'll be unique since it doesn’t seem as inversion-focused as other wing coasters. It seems to be a really solid ride too based on the leaked POV. It's just a shame they went with one of the worst possible names for it. In my opinion, Rapterra is up there with Candymonium on the “worst name for a ride” list.
