I remember Robb Alvey threatened to ban from ThemeParkReview’s forums because I said Volcano gave me a ride with some head banging, so there’s that lol. People were very defensive of it when it was around.

Growing up in Virginia with KD as my home park, I was also extremely attached to Volcano. It was my first ever coaster with a 54” height requirement that I was able to ride once hitting the mark. I was far from a coaster enthusiast at this point, still very afraid of many large coasters, and was more or less forced on it by my dad. Still remember watching the launch where you could get a perfect view of it when trains were still loaded from the left side of the platform, prior to the queue and station configuration being changed. I wanted to chicken out so bad, but followed through. There’s an infamous photo of me at 10 years old absolutely dwarfed by the large seat and restraint looking like I’m about to implode on the launch, where I peed just a little bit. But I absolutely loved it and then turned the tables on my dad and forced him to wait in the 90 minute queue 2 more times that day. And thus my coaster enthusiasm (?) was born.

Volcano was my favorite coaster in the park until its demise. Not necessarily the best (i305 still holds that title) but my personal favorite. Like others said prior, it was a major disappointment and put a damper on the whole visit on days I visited where it was down. I was devastated when the park announced the removal. I greatly miss it and always will. That being said, the wing coaster is a completely worthy replacement. And, in all honestly, will more than likely be a superior ride, even with the extent of the theming still unknown.

Yeah, I'm excited to see what they build. I think it will be great. But I do miss Volcano. It was a unique and a very fun ride. It was the only launched invert, right? Not sure if that's true or not or if any others were built later.

The Intamin impulses are launched inverts, but not full circuit. In modern times you have these:

Thanks. Yeah, I was ignoring the Impulses as to me those are closer to a flat ride. But maybe that's unfair. Maybe some day I will get to ride some of those ones in other countries

I’m guessing most of you are too young to remember the Lost World attractions and what it was like before Volcano.

I'm of the haunted river/Smurf Mountain/TimeShaft generation. I liked volcano better than all three, FWIW, but i wish they had a ride like Haunted River again. A well-rounded park needs dark boat rides like that.

I'm not too young to have experienced Lost World, I just was not going to amusement parks then. I had a long period of time mostly not going to parks until I had kids who then became old enough to ride and then I re-found my love for them. I think one of the last parks I went to before that was Six Flags Over Texas with a friend, when Texas Giant was new. Lots of parks I didn't go to for long periods time. Until last year I hadn't been to Cedar Point since Magnum was the new ride.

Yeah, by the time my amusement park memories began, Volcano was already around.

Makes me even sadder that I didn't have time for Monster Mansion when I went to Six Flags Over Georgia. Curse the Amtrak delays that day.

I swear to GAWD, if this thing has one silly miscalculated jolt or rattle on a new B&M like Iron Menace...lol

This one has got to be smooth and enjoyable, as it will be many people's first exposure to a wing coaster who are regulars to these parks in the state of VA.
I guarantee no regular park goers will care if there's a shuffle or rattle. Thoosies notice it more on B&Ms because we're weirdos who know manufacturers and expect smoother, but no normal person will have the correct frame of reference to care unless it's egregious. I doubt any new B&M would be bad enough for the average person to notice

In my opinion I think the mountain is coming back and I have evidence to back it up, nothing concrete but repeated things in the theming that just seems to hint to it. The mountain itself is explicitly stated in the jungle x lore and is said to be far off and surrounded by very dense trees, but in front of it is a mirage of a grassy plain. I think this could easily be explained off as the mirage made the mountains seem farther away.

In the map there is also a suspiciously mountain shaped section of greenery right where the original mountain stood.
Next, in the Arachnidia announcement video there was a map of jungle x and it has a mountainous area in that plot of land.

In this image it appears the largest mountain is towards the back, which is what I think is most likely for the new mountain that will be constructed, and it has an area extending from it which in my opinion looks to be just like the launch tunnel section of the leaked plans for the wing coaster

I think the mountain would make the most sense towards the back so the station and the part before the end will take place within the main mountain, probably extending forward at least under the dive loop to some extent, though it is also possible the dive loop will go up close to the peak. If the mountain is in the same position as before the dive loop would pass just to the north of the peak. I think the mountainous parts would allow for the near miss elements that many wing coasters use in their theming, but also allow for that big prominent structure that is now missing from that side of the park.
Other smaller things like the Reptilian exit queue keeping the cave and theming it with paintings while leaving it unfinished on the mountain side, as well as the numerous depictions of a much more slender mountain that seems too specific of a design to be just a weird depiction of the old one also seem like it hints towards a new mountain. I mean if Cedar Fair is so serious about trying to do better theming testing it out with KD and jungle x it seems likely that along with the 50th anniversary they would want to do something big, literally. Plus it would also explain the length of the queue because why else make it so long? I also feel that the lack of communication about this coaster seems to hint something more because typically Cedar Fair parks announce a coaster when they start laying footers or even before, yet this one is completely hush hush and they even have been making it harder to sneak peeks over the fence.

Yk I’ve thought this, and it makes sense. Not only to bring back an iconic structure and pay homage to the rides that were there before, but to cover up the fof and fully immerse guests into JX. And I feel like if cedar fair really wants to do their big one with theming and be taken seriously in that category, they should do it. And if they are it would make sense as to why they’ve been on speed mode with construction.
