Airtime thrills said a ride op told him theres a "rain mode"? The wheels grip the track tighter and thats what gives it a rougher ride. That is not a thing right
No, the train bogies are all mechanical pieces without electronics. Meaning, maintenance would have to pull the train off and make adjustments to each individual wheel to adjust tolerances. The ride can have a rain mode, but most likely the train moves slower through the drive tires in the transfer and station to prevent the train from sliding through the wheels as the tires speed up/ slow down.

I got six rides in today, including some night rides finally with two of them without getting off due to the minimal crowds. One thing I can say is that I wish the brake run was covered. On our third ride of the day, the ride experienced a break down and we were stuck on the brake run for a good ten minutes out in the sun since we were in the back row. They did offer us water when we got off so props to the staff for that.

I think Rapterra has might have the best queue of all of the rides in the park. During the day it's nice but it looks even better at night. It just feels so lively with how well lit up it is. They definitely did a great job theming this ride.

This queue gets better and better as the trees fill in.

Okay, I’m going to be completely honest: I did not believe everyone when they said this was rough. I just thought it was the same people who will complain about a slight B&M rattle at it again. I was completely wrong.

This thing at night in a back wing seat is probably the roughest ride in the park. Like, not just a little rattle— full jackhammering at the bottom of the loops. Which is so disappointing considering how much potential this layout has. It’s got great elements taken at great speed, but it’s so hard to enjoy because of how ridiculously rough it is.

I’ll hold hope that maybe we’ll eventually get a IoA Hulk-style retrack at some point in the future, but until then this ride’s a one-and-done for me.

Same for me. Idc what excuse yall wanna give wing coasters. The bounce and vibration + vest restrains make un enjoyable. The ride is already almost completly forcless imo. The only fun part of Rapterra is the launch and the wingover or whatever it is. I never gave my thoughts after riding it more since opening day just because I didnt wanna be the negative nancy. But this ride is ass for what all it is. A giant launched B&M. Glad itll eat up the GP for other rides I can be riding instead though

It is EXTREMELY forceless for me. Overall, the only real reason I liked it before was because of the shock of it being a new ride. Rode it twice on Friday, and it was very forceless, with absolutely chest crushing restraints.

The shock of a new expierence is a good way to put it. When I 1st rode it, it was my 1st wing coaster, it was also a whole new launch coaster, and it was my 1st expierence with vest restraints.

I really wonder what all these modern B&M would feel like if they had the old school restraints. Like Alpen, Griffon ect

Rapterra would give you a concussion.

I don't like the vests, but if these new, bouncy/"rough" B&Ms had the hard OSTRs, they'd be completely unrideable.
Yeaaa I guess you're right. With how much more you move around in the seat. Maybe not wings but say more so the dives or banshee. Surely banshee would turn elite if not top 2 inverts if it had the old restraints

Rapterra is very fun. It’s below Thunderbird for me but I just love that punchy launch up into that wonky wing over turn. Also the stall over the path on the right side before the corkscrew is very fun as well. I think the finale has some excellent pacing with the corkscrew, airtime hill and zero G into a forceful turn.

I also hear a lot of non-thoosie guests loving it and calling it “smooth” on the brake run but I also think that word doesn’t mean the same thing to them that it does to thoosies.

I don't find the pacing remotly good at all. The turns over the plaza don't even hold you in your seat. But we all got diff ideas. All wing coasters look like they have slow drawn out pacing.

Disagree with you hard @MrBradferd

Have you been on it recently?

Pretty darn intense and the airtime hill at the end has been significantly better recently. The pace of Rapterra seems to be much better than it was. I also still don't get the exagerative comments about the rides roughness. Is it butter? No, but it has a lot of character in a way that doesn't give me a headache. I enjoy the bounce a good bit honestly and think it adds a bite to the elements.

I've been on it 50+ times at this point and find myself riding it more than anything else in the park these days. Rapterra is just so much fun!

I get that some people can be especially sensitive though.

Not in like 2 months I haven't. Im not sensitive to it because I can marathon alpengeist all day and be fine. No Rapterra doesn't give me a headache or anything insane like that. I can't explain it. I just don't care for it. Not worth anything more than 20min to me

Rapterra is my third favorite in the park and honestly, it's getting close to taking Twisted Timbers' spot in number two. I find Rapterra very re-rideable and is just an overall fun roller coaster and it's very popular with the general public. My co-worker said it was his favorite ride of the day on Friday. I've been on this at least over 10 times and I still get that stomach drop feeling on the overbanked turn on the left side of the train. The bottom of the dive loop and the final turn provide some really good positive G's. I also love how it interacts with the midway as well. I still love Twisted Timbers because of the airtime and is smooth, but I can't marathon it as much as I used to as it can get a little too much for my thighs these days (Hate being in my 30s sometimes lol). And while I'm not against it, the metal detectors and lockers get annoying after a while. I'm not sure if it's because it is Rapterra's first year or the crew, but I also find it to have the best dispatch times in the park as well. The line moves much quicker than most of the rides in the park.

The dispatch of Rapterra is pretty insane. I will give it that. The crew always hustle

I've only ridden it a couple times, but I can't understand what part of it is even a little rough. If this ride is "rough", what would be considered non rough at KD. Something like FoF or Dominator is far rougher than Rapterra and neither of those I think are more than mildly uncomfortable.

This is what's bad about Anaconda being gone, people forget what rough truly is.
