It wouldnt be considered rough by me if the ride had clam shells. Then it would be whatever.(only comparing that because youre comparing a hyper to a completly different ride type) But those trash vest restrains jabbing into collar bones with the sudden jolts and bouncyness completly suck. For me Dominator is a much smoother ride than Rapterra. Both are ridable and not actually rough to be a problem but if were judging a ride on any smoothness then hell no rapterra isin't smooth. If it has old school B&M restraints it would be less noticable
I find this new generation of vest restraints very comfortable, the older ones like on Gatekeeper staple you by the end of the ride and leave you with no room to breathe or puff out your chest. Rapterra doesn’t tighten throughout the course and the soft vest eliminates headbanging. I take the vest over Dominator’s hard OTSRs any day.

All i read everywhere is people hating vest restraint now. Thats part of the reason banshee is so low ranked to people for inverts. And why Griffon and Shiekra are better than almost every vest restraint dive coaster. Because no one likes them.

Yall could try enjoying things. Not everything ever has to be utter perfection. There’s a lot better things to do than rip Rapterra to shreds over some slightly bumpy valleys.
Im not complaining like some. I know it sounds like it but it is a very good ride. I don't refer to it as a actual "rough" ride. Ive seen it compared to a wodden coaster and that is just insane.

BUT if were only talking a pool of B&Ms then yes its rougher than most. But in terms vs every coaster ever hell no

Walked right onto the back row today.

I’m now a right-side believer, even though I was a firm left-side believer since it opened. The sideways airtime on the first element is just top tier and it feels like it’s trying to throw you into the track.

I'm with you. All of my best rides have been on the right side regardless of row/seat.

Does anyone else feel like Rapterra has had a positive impact on attendance at the park? It seems like volume is up this season. That is the ultimate objective of new coasters but I’m curious if anybody else feels the same way that attendance seems to be up?
I agree. The more I visit this year, the more I see people at the park compared to the past few years. Granted this week is the last week for most schools for VA and MD and I did see quite a few school groups today. But I still feel like there's a lot more people coming to the park, thanks to Rapterra. Honestly, it might be the most popular ride in the park now with guests. While it's still a thrill ride, I think it appeals to a lot more than thrill seekers, especially considering it has a 4'8 height requirement. Of all the roller coasters in the park, I think it's the most balanced as it seems to attract thrill seekers and newcomers and all seem to enjoy it.

I'll join the party with you guys. I'm really starting to favor the right side more than the left. I got two rides in today, one on each side and both times in the front row outside seat. Also, I don't know if it's me, but the right side felt slightly smoother too.

I'm hoping to come back Friday of next week and finally get a night ride in.

Airtime thrills said a ride op told him theres a "rain mode"? The wheels grip the track tighter and thats what gives it a rougher ride. That is not a thing right

No. That's not how rain mode works. What really happens is that the brakes act more aggressively and transfer tires act more gently to account for the loss in friction. Anyone who has looked closely at a coaster train wheel assembly can see there is no way to dynamically adjust grip, though maintenance can tighten and loosen stuff to affect speed and comfort. Ride ops know almost nothing related to ride maintenance. If they did, they wouldn't be working in ops...
