To add to the previous discussion about the ride's original state, 15 years ago (ouch). My first ride ever on this was about 2 weeks after opening day. Rode with my friend Ben in the front row, about 3 trains after opening. I think the on-ride photo is still at my parents house, but I'll never forget the look on our faced. We totally looked constipated lol. Best part was that Ben was wearing a shirt with his football team logo on it which said "Feel the Sting." We were feeling it alright lol. Anyways, we rode it a few times that day, which was about 2 weeks before they trimmed the drop. Man was it intense. I remember going into the turn and slowly losing vision until all I could see was the red track in front of us until the camelback hill. We noticed that they kept switching out the trains throughout the day and towards the end of the day, when we came back to ride once more before leaving, we saw that the wheels kept melting and had to be replaced frequently! Memories.

The coaster is way better now than it was year one in my opinion. The original restraints were truly horrible (I had bruises on the sides of my neck), the trims they experimented with throughout the season to save the wheels made the ride dramatically less forceful, and the original turn literally hardly felt any different than the current one despite all of the additional uptime issues it caused.

I'm glad I experienced it in year one, sure, but it's just a strictly better ride now in my opinion.

I posted my first my first experience in another thread. By that time, they had changed the restraints and I believe they had trims on the first drop, even though I don't remember it hitting that hard. The original turn was still there, but I don't remember it being any different today. But that was 15 years ago (Jesus...) so my memory is a bit fuzzy. It's a shame because I remember I had brought my old digital camera at the time and took lots of pictures and a few videos of the ride and Haunt during that trip, but that's long gone from my old computer. I also miss the red lights on the lift hill. I haven't seen those on in years! I wonder if they will bring those back, but in orange.

Agreed. I remember holding the old restraints at the neck line as to cushion my neck a bit more. Did the same on Maverick. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I305 may have been the first Intamin to use the padded restraints. I remember HP getting them sometime around 2016 or so and Storm Runner and Fahrenheit were so much more comfortable.

Don’t be so quick to give up, I just rode racer and there is a very very large black tarp covered thing by the lift mechanism, like big enough to be a new spool and then some. If this is the part it so desperately needs it could open as early as this coming week

We’ll definitely get something in the station I mean look at every other jungle x station. Then again that may not be there when it opens but realistically how hard is it to screw down old camping gear to a table and slap a whey foundation logo on it lol. And I have to imagine that it will have a generic spiel with the same voice actress as all the other jungle x rides.
