I overheard someone saying today that the reason it’s chewing through wheels is that they accidentally clogged all the water sprayer nozzles in the station when they painted the station track, so the wheels aren’t being cooled down between cycles. I believe it, because I noticed one jet of water being sprayed comically onto the unload platform — I assume because of water pressure being built up.

Should be a super easy fix because they just need to either unclog the nozzles or swap in new ones, but it’s probably something they couldn’t easily do during the day without shutting down the ride and locking it out for an extended period. We’ll see.

Im going to assume they were torqueing bolts while the painting was happening. Because it looks like none of the bolt connections on the track or supports got painted.
Yep, that's annoying. I have a feeling it's just because the paint rollers can't get around each bolt, and that would take more time (and therefore more money) to cut in around all the bolts. Complete non-issue doing that on the rest of the ride where nobody can see, but I would have preferred a little more detail in guest-facing areas like those turns.

I’ve seen rumors that the repaint is actually what caused the lift components to fail this year which I never gave any credence to but this is actually making me reconsider

Are we sure this isn’t just the lighting/reflection of the support? If it was really repainted, then why? That would be bizarre.
It’s a bad picture but you can tell better in person. As to why they just now decided to do it, I’m not sure

Come on now. What's more likely- that they got a 150ft boom lift this morning, painted just the top of 2 supports tan, for seemingly no reason... or your eyes are simply playing a trick on you.

This certainly looks to me that they’ve painted. If it was just shadows they should be at approximately the same height but the color changes are at different heights on the supports.

EDIT: it appears it simply just is the lighting, sorry folks!

Sorry for nitpicking but if you look at the top of the support, where it turns “blacker” is actually where a different support angles out from it. It’s the same color of black but reflected differently by the same angle.

If you look at the bottom of the same original support (circled yellow) it also appears to be more tan, but only due to reflection.

I mean is it easy to fix? They're probably going to have to just scrape off the paint, but I don't know if it like dripped inside the sprayers or something. Hope it's an easy fix.
It should be but I don’t know anything about those parts. Coming from a family of painters, I believe when painting prep is king. Whether it be take all those parts off that can get damaged or cover them extremely well, you avoid future problems with proper prep.
