317 people were in the park today.

A grand total of 16 got to ride Tumbili before it closed.

This literally has to be one of the most spectacularly blundered coaster openings in history. Basically no one knew it was happening, the park decided to move forward with it in a goddamn snowstorm, and most of their specially invited media didn't get to ride the coaster. Incredible. Truly top tier stuff. This industry is so stupid sometimes. How many times does this stuff have to happen before we start writing and pitching an Office-style workplace comedy set at an amusement park?

It seemed pretty clear that the plan was to at least soft open today.
Only if you were a Mid-Atlantic ACE member..... and even that email didn't indicate that the ride was going to be open to the public at all. It was a conclusion that could be drawn but I don't think it's fair to put words in KD's mouth. I think that they should have told ACE to call off the "event" they were planning but that isn't related to any public operations.

KD has refused to give people an opening timeline on social media and repeatedly advertised Tumbili in the context of the park's opening day. From what I can tell, the coaster was just officially opening today. The materials I've seen out of the media event suggest the same.

I'll give you that.... they haven't been very direct about the opening of Tumbili but I think that's basically because they didn't know if they were going to be able to have it ready for opening day. That's why they were pushing the area and not so much the coaster. I think at this point they'll start really pushing the coaster because it's now ready. We'll talk a little more tonight.

Aaaah. Some things never change. KD retains its reputation for poor management.

Before anyone defends the park, EVERYONE knew the weather forecast as of yesterday. Yet KD actively continue to promote opening day on Friday, and then didn't have the business ethics to stay open as advertised. At what point does this become false adversiting?

They knew the weather forecast at least yesterday. They didn't close because of the weather, or they would have cancelled yesterday. They simply closed because of low crowd levels.

Crowds are normally smaller when weather is bad, but nobody comes to KD when the weather is bad because of their horrible reputation for closing early. They reap what they sow and their failure to stay open as advertised is one reason this park continues to draw small crowds year after year.

If parks are going to close because of weather, the least they can do is close a day ahead and save the people that want to come their time and expense.

Oh man, those future temple hints are going to cause so much speculation around here, and I'm very excited for it :p

I'm thinking Flight of Fear must be the feline temple, while I305 is the Hawk temple. Obviously Anaconda is Anaconda.

I also love the shout out to the Dooz Caves!

It doesn’t look like temps today get above 40 until 2pm. I would guess there’s not much point in going until around then unfortunately unless they’ll run Tumbili sooner.

What is KD's operating temp for the ride. I thought it was ride dependent and not one size fits all for the park.

Someone on KDFanatics claimed that Tumbili’s lowest operating temperature is 34 degrees. Not sure where they got the information, but the coaster did operate two trains yesterday at that temperature before shutting down for the day.

I had not ridden one of these before and have to say it is more forceful then I expected. I honestly really enjoyed it the only down side was I waited 1 minute for every second the ride lasted.

IIRC they said one side was more extreme than the other.

Did they actually claim that somewhere? There's NOTHING in the queue to suggest it right now, but, anecdotally, I think I saw a ton more flips on the Planet Snoopy side of the ride than I did the Jungle X side.
