I knew Dominator got repainted before our just right after installation at KD since it was originally a Batman coaster up at Geauga Lake.

Eiffel Tower, Drop Tower, Apple Zapple, and now Avalanche have all been repainted in the past 3 years.

So out of those, only 2 are steel coasters, and their repainting came with a theming update for the whole areas they reside in.

My main point is it takes many years for a ride to see a new coat of paint, so I'm not sure how paint maintenance will be any more of a problem with Tumbili than the rest of the park.

Anaconda also received a repaint in recent years but I think it was closer to 5 years ago. No major retheme for it.

I don’t see how repainting that would be that hard. It looks to be a few different stencils on top of a base color. Yes it’s a little more prep work, but nothing crazy in terms of a custom hand paint job.

I mean, it's not like a certain Screamin' Swing's attempt to blend into its immediate surroundings...

I'm curious how much KDFans were involved with the creation of the blog post and/or social posts - good work team!

Ha, not at all. They haven't reached out. 😋

And that sure looks like they've done a bamboo-style paint on Av as well!!

I agree that's what it looks like and.... Wow. That's a level of care and attention to detail I couldn't have predicted from KD despite all the positive thematic signs lately. Adding special thematic paint to an existing ride? Incredible. 10/10. Absolutely love this new direction.

Fingers crossed that the orange inside the track is the final color, cause that is GORGEOUS!

From what I've heard, that orange is the final track color. It looks so, so good.

Revisiting the topic (and I apologize if it's been covered too much in the past); do we have any educated guesses on Avalanche's new name/theme?

I went back and looked at the teaser posters leading up to Tumbili, and found the following:
  • The Archaeological Wonder at Chichen Itza, Mexico
  • Marvel at the Dangerous Vipers of Snake Temple, Malaysia
  • The Volcanic Eruption at Pompeii, Italy
  • The Cosmic Mystery of Stonehenge
Considering the new orange paint and assuming each of these places ends up being used in the area, I could see this being tied to the Snake Temple pretty easily. I don't think Anaconda will stay around long enough to justify any kind of real improvement (not that it needs much/any work to integrate it into Jungle X at all, Backlot would be the ideal ride to redo...), but at the same time, two snake themed rides in the same area might be a stretch.

I could be wrong, but based on the announcement, I think those posters just represent to other ancient archaeological sites that the fictional Professor Whey visited in his search for “Site X.” So they don’t actually refer to any landmarks within Jungle X-Pedition, but rather other sites the professor had previously visited.

If KD keeps this up I might prefer KD over BGW.

Some great new pictures of Tumbili and (for now) Avalanche from the park's blog:

With the re-theme of avalanche, I wonder what they’re gonna do with the trains if anything at all. Repaint to match the new theme? New stickers? Complete refurbishment? Or brand new trains which I highly doubt. What do y’all think?
