Do you think Kings Dominion will have this built and ready for opening in 2021 as originally planned, or has the pandemic forced them to push the project to 2022?

I'm optimistic still. Not saying it will open in 2021, but as I currently understand the situation, I expect it to.

In general this would be akin to a lower capacity flat ride, so I'd think that they could open in 2021 without much hype unless COVID-19 restrictions are gone and they're free to pack the park again (doubtful), then go on all all-out marketing whammy for 2022 with whatever new big ride they'd put in assuming there's one coming at all.

I've heard they have it planned to open next year, but I assume next year's new pandemic will actually push it.

I thought assholes and being a selfish shitbag were already known pandemics. Learn something new daily!! ???

I'd think it'd take a little more work pouring footers and bolting things together...?

It will, but these things go up shockingly quickly—especially when the site is already cleared.

I honestly don't think we need to start asking any hard questions about this project till after Christmas. If we get into January 2021 and work hasn't really begun, then I'd start to get worried about a more substantial delay.

What's the average time from build through testing before opening? I'd think it's about 3 months give or take?

Based on how fast Dragon Slayer is going up, I'm guessing KD could probably have the structure completed by January or February because there is a rumor on another forum that this Free Spin will be the same model as Dragon Slayer.

I'd figure construction is quick assuming all of the pieces and contractors are in place - even more so that the park isn't open so there's no time/day restrictions if there's any inconvenience to guests (assuming Avalanche stays open).

Here's a few pictures showcasing the differences between Dragon Slayer, the Joker clones, and the S&S Freespin that was added in China last year.

I can't peg KD's to be an exact clone of Adventureland's model, but by the sounds of things if they're not going to be 100% clones they're probably going to be very similar.

BATMAN: THE RIDE

Either Six Flags buys Kings Dominion or Six Flags buys the coaster for Six Flags America. Pick your poison—either way you get Batman: The Ride.
