Meet Reptilian

microsoftteams-image-5.jpeg

Nearly 80 years after the discovery of Tumbili by Professor Whey, another temple was uncovered by archeology professor, Rovin Jay, in Jungle X.

While leading a project for the Whey Foundation, Professor Rovin Jay and his team uncovered a temple dedicated to the powerful reptile, a crocodile. The builders of this temple were awed and terrified by the creature's deceivingly stealthy yet quick movement. According to the scripts within the site, the temple is named Reptilian.

Here's a closer look into his findings:

The crocodiles of the jungle zig zag their way through a muddy, clay environment. Professor Whey's color samples indicate three different types of mud, as shown above. Explorers of Jungle X-Pedition can slide through the temple in similar conditions.

In the temple, explorers have the chance to ride these powerful creatures through the jungle. Just be careful, their stealthy yet quick movements will create quite the high-speed adventure!

The Whey Foundation is just scratching the surface of Professor Whey's discoveries in site "X." Are you ready to take on Reptilian in 2022?

Well, Cedar Fair is not noted for thematic prowess in its corporate history. That being said, CF has slowly pointed the thematic boat in a new direction over the last 6-7 years with some rapid thematic progress over the last 4-5 years in many parks across the chain.

Sometimes you got to freshen up an area that has gotten stale and Safari Village is just that. Plus, thematic tie-ins around that area went the way of the dinosaurs when Paramount took over.

KD does keep refering to all these announcements as being just the "tip of the iceberg" and "much more to come". Not sure if the park is refering to just the 2022 season or giving hints that the changes are happening over the next couple years, or both?

To be fair, CF was scared away from immersive theming/storytelling during the Kinzel period, but since Ouimet was from Disney post-Eisner and Zimmerman ran KD, there's not as much issue with attempting it now.

I think both. Bigger thing is I wonder if they will do only Jungle X for a while or bounce around.

I'm thinking X-pedition area changes are happening over a 2-3 year period. Not sure if we are talking consecutive years.

That would be a first for KD if that happened. The park always seems to bounce around each season. Example, Planet Snoopy addition one year, then somewhere/something else the next year and back to Planet Snoopy 2 years later. Makes me curious about it.

I wonder when we will see something happen to Backlot. Same with I305 and FoF.
We have had some recent discussion on this topic, in this thread, in the last page or two. I am not sure if KD considers FOF and I-305 as part of the revamped area. I'm thinking Anaconda and Backlot Stunt Coaster are in scope for the X-pedition retheme. Though, a makeover for BLC might not be in the works for this year due to the scope, timeframe, and budget for 2022.

Anaconda needs to be removed not rethemed

IMO a Copperhead Strike thrill-level Mack launch should replace Anaconda. And give it a sibling name to Copperhead like Cottonmouth, or just keep the Anaconda name. A Copperhead Strike style shed would look pretty cool in the marsh by the lake.

I'm kind of torn on this one. On one hand, I think it would be fine if they brought in some Vekoma trains with vest restraints & clean it up a little bit, but that's assuming that keeping it for 5+ years is their plan. On the other hand, I'm totally down for a new coaster in that spot.

I know it'll happen eventually, but if they get rid of another major coaster before adding Volcano's replacement, the general public would go WILD.

I would love this, but I don't see KD spending $30 million on anything, let alone a small-ish Mack Rides coaster like Copperhead. Maybe a bigger one (or one of those Xtreme Spinning Coasters), but not one similarly sized to Copperhead. Personally, I'd love just a straight up clone of Lech Coaster at Legendia right over the lake 😄

Montezuma's Revenge would make a far better water ride. Montezooma's Revenge is staying put as far as I can tell.

You know what would be a cool addition, and jungles sometimes have them?

Cats!

Especially tigers
