BGW is, reasonably, held to a higher thematic standard than the other SEAS parks. BGW was the only BEC park built from the ground up to be a world-class, fully immersive theme park. Additionally, people in search of immersion in FL or CA have better options than SEAS parks—here in the Mid-Atlantic though, BGW has been the go to option for us immersive, themed entertainment junkies for decades. It's not unreasonable to expect BGW fans to be more vocal about these issues than BGT or SWO fans.

As per BGW's current collection (ignoring their legacy with the likes of The Wolf, DarKastle, Corkscrew, Eire, etc): Loch Ness, Alpengeist, Verbolten, Escape from Pompeii, and Roman Rapids all have on-ride theming. Loch Ness, Alpengeist, and Verbolten have themed queues. Loch Ness, Griffon, InvadR, Alpengeist, and Verbolten all have well-themed entry plazas. Loch Ness, Griffon, Alpengeist, Verbolten, Apollo, Tempesto, Escape from Pompeii, Roman Rapids, Mach Tower, Finnegan's Flyer, The Flying Machine, and countless others all have queue buildings. The vast majority of the park's attractions are designed and placed in such a way as to elegantly integrate with the park's natural beauty, sight lines, path structure, etc.

The issue people have with Pantheon is that there is a clear lack of care and attention paid to any of its environmentals. No one claims that BGW needed to build Hagrid's—no one is expecting sets, effects, and whatever else—they're just expecting the bare minimum for a major Busch Gardens coaster. For a lot of us, the reasonable minimum looks something like Loch Ness, InvadR, or Alpengeist. Many of us have long been consistent in saying that Apollo's Chariot or even Griffon are thematically subpar—but Pantheon has struck a real cord with folks because it doesn't even near the bar set by either of those weak points.

No one is telling you that you have to care about these things, just don't strawman the people who do. Our perspective is totally reasonable. If Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks are doing a better job theming their coasters than BGW (which they are), I think the criticism is not only realistic, but also justified. Again, you don't have to hold the same opinion—but don't tear down the people who do.

Lastly, about the length—I agree with you there. Pantheon's ride time is pretty adverage—seems weird to take an issue with it. That said, the comments about Pantheon's length that I've seen are typically in the context of comparing it to VelociCoaster which is quite a bit longer. People can make that comparison while also not using it as a criticism of Pantheon—VelociCoaster is just a helpful parallel since it's the only thing anything like Pantheon that most people in this market have even had a chance at riding.

I'm not convinced Six Flags is doing a better job. I rode Maxx Force at Great America last fall, and there is no themeing whatsoever.

I think that when people complain about the lack of “theme” that Pantheon has.... it’s because of the non-present “story” if you will. My only gripe , honestly, is the queue and station are so minimal. However, with it being attached to the Festa area... I’m not surprised. That area is a bit hodgepodge. I really think that with Darkoaster and (fingers crossed) Drachen Spire; we will get back to thematic elements that we all want to see. Others have argued that both Apollo and Tempesto are without the degree of detail other coasters have integrated. I’m not as disappointed as I once was at the beginning. The addition of both ride signage , the banners and the fact that the landscaping seems to be more pleasant as it is growing. The argument for me is that all the rides at BGW have had thought out into their location and aesthic for whatever hamlet they reside.

Fiesta Texas just added all of this to an existing coaster:

Thar ride is actually on my list to do today/tomorrow. As for theming, I'll take a look at the new swing at SWSA and report back on what I can see. Unfortunately I am in San Antonio one week too early, as previews start next weekend. :(

They do sometimes listen to feedback (they at least modified the bungled passport to thrills in recent memory after initial feedback) I think this ride has potential to receive similar post-launch theming if the GP has a similar feel/response to us die-hards.

SEAS does seem to acknowledge the fact that Pantheon's station and queue are ugly, as we have spoken about, and have put efforts (although minimal) to make it look nicer. I myself don't care if its themed, I just care if its station looks uglier than your average Six Flags station. they at least try to put a themed building as the station (Mr. Freeze). At least it's queue looks like a garden. Also I apologize to those whom I spoke about on hating Pantheon's lack of theming. Zachary has destroyed my argument, and I'm not one to whine about it. Again, I apologize.

I was on Apollo’s today and as it pulled back into the station I saw a bunch of large crates along the fence that had “THEMING FESTA 2” on them. Don’t know if it’s BGW trolling y’all or just some shamrock decor for next month
Neither believe it or not BGW still packing up Christmas Town and those are boxes of Christmas decorations and have been labeled that way for years now.

So many potential jokes...
  • <Joke about putting away the Christmas decorations in February, with comparisons to self>
  • <Joke about "the boxes are the theming!">
  • <Joke about boxes, possibly mentioning Schrödinger>

According to BGW's public statements and website, ALL passes/memberships—regardless of home location—are limited to one total ride during the entire preview period.
From what I know, passport to thrills was limited at SWO, but not at BGT. Previews at both parks down here were unlimited even though it was listed in multiple places as one time only.

I would say this is a strong wait and see sort of thing. Crowds might be a determining factor, along with weekend only operations.
