"We do a lot of our own operations testing, and then while that's going on our theming gets installed."

Intamin still has control over the site. I don't think any theming will come close to being installed while the manufacturer is testing, correcting bugs, and addressing possible serious issues that come up during the process.
why not? historically in a lot of busch and non busch projects themeing has been put into place and other stuff while testing and programming

One reason to have it look like Pantheon is no-where near ready to open could be to make sure people are coming to the park with the current limitations in place.

Someone from out of state would definitely think twice about driving all the way over here right now for a limited event if they knew they could ride Pantheon if they waited another month or 2.

Here’s another thing. BGT decided not to open IG even though this time of year is their busiest because of Florida and spring break. Why, though? Disney opens things when they have high attendance, and it works well. Look at Flight of Passage, a ride that is pretty much just a screen and one of those motorcycles from Dave and Busters or Chuck E. Cheese. However, since it constantly had over 3 hour waits it brought people in and kept them in with the mystique of “this ride must be GREAT to have a ride that long”. I just don’t get the reasoning. Especially for people north of KD, they might see that BGW doesn’t have anything new and just decide to go to the park that is nearly half the price.

I think SEAS might think it’s just more financially viable to take down Pantheon and pretend like it never existed than to open it in this economy. People are still going to their parks and it would save on long term operational and maintenance costs even if they might have to spend a bit more to take the whole thing down in the meantime. I know we all wanted to ride it but I just don’t see how it’s viable for it to open, ever.

Is it possible they aren't opening it because they don't want even larger crowds while we are still in the midst of covid? Pantheon (and Iron Gwazi) will get people coming from far and wide. I know they want to make as much money as possible, but maybe they just want to limit crowds, or maybe just travelers from more distant places, until Covid is over with, or largely over with. Perhaps it isn't even their choice. Maybe the state is saying, don't do anything to draw people from far away. I have no idea, I'm just guessing.

Park wants higher crowds.
New coaster attracts those crowds.
Pandemic means crowd limit.
Vaccine means possible lift of limit.
Vaccine need time to administer.

There’s your answer. See you on Pantheon.
Yes but IG is in a state where Covid doesn’t exist according to the govt there, so the whole vaccine thing and crowd limits don’t hold up.

Pantheon, yes. IG is in Florida though, so there aren’t any Covid restrictions for the most part.

SEAS already has PR concerns regarding Blackfish, they don't need inciting a super spreader event due to opening a new ride at any of their parks during a pandemic regardless of what the local governments think about the virus... Assuming I'm following the logic presented above correctly.

Disney isn't opening any new attractions until October 1st and put the majority of its current and future plans on hold in response to the pandemic. The only reason Iron Gwazi and Ice Breaker are opening earlier this year is that they were very close to completion prior to the parks shutting down in March 2020 and because Universal is going full steam ahead with Velocicoaster opening this spring/summer.

The draw for thrill coasters is huge as seen by the stellar attendance year that came with Griffon opening in 2007 and the park hosting more than 2,000,000 guests. Many of those people came from farther regions of the Mid-Atlantic or other states like Pennsylvania and New York where advertising for both the park and Williamsburg as a whole was heavily pushed. Don't expect Pantheon to open until state restrictions are being rolled back, guests feel comfortable traveling, and the park wholeheartedly knows that it will cause a boost in attendance. This is a unique multi-million dollar roller coaster that is designed to increase attendance, not keep it at the same level or below. I would expect Pantheon to open at the earliest on the Fourth of July but would love to be more than wrong.

Even foregoing covid, Velocicoaster has been testing since November. I expect at least the same amount of testing time, and we haven't seen a full send yet.

I think Velocicoaster's long testing period would have been different if not for COVID. There just wasn't any incentive to move faster.

I expect, per this thread, that SEAS is taking its time knowing they're not in a rush, but if there are factors that lead them to decide the coaster should be open on July 4, there's no reason to believe they don't have the testing runway to open it on July 4.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but from a reply to the BGWFans Twitter account, I saw a claim the second launch break fins are having issues? You liked the message, so I'm curious if it's an issue to think about?

My new toy for Pantheon testing. I know some of you might laugh but the other picture is a photo I took about 3 years ago with a less powerful cellphone camera a a cheaper version of this at about 300 YARDS so you can get some really decent shots with them.

I'm not sure how much extra testing Intamin is gonna want for the switch track. Hagrid's has it, sure, but this is also a much faster acceleration and speed.
