So here is something I was thinking about last night. Everyone on here talks about the reason the park uses generators for CT is because the infrasturcture in the park wont support all the christmas lights as well as Dominions grid also wont support it and they wont upgrade anything. So where is the added power of not one but supposedly two lanch coasters coming from? In addition will they have to use a timing system between the two so niether launches at the exact same second as the other to drop the grid? I know at Disney when ToT and RnRC first opened that was a problem and if they launched and dropped at the same split second the grid would go down.

It's about access. Certain places in the park where they want lights to run they don't have the power grid connected to. It's cheaper to run a generator than to go through the process of adding the necessary power lines.

As for Pantheon, they will have plenty of power for it.

Both rides are using multiple launches so that should lower power consumption.

I've never heard anyone say BGW does generators because Dominion couldn't supply enough power. It's been my understanding that it's cheaper to have generators because it would dramatically increase their electricity bill due to the peak load usage.

And then as @KDcoasterMAN said it's also for convenience. It's a lot easier and cheaper to place a generator somewhere than it is run a power line to a place where they only run it for a few weeks.

I dont want to derail this thread but in previous discussion about the event and why they dont upgrade the parks infrastructure like Kings Dominion did by running power to everything instead of extension cords and generators like BGW does everyone said came down to the lack of avaliable power from Dominion. I guess sometime I will have to look back of the exact comments to quote them. Anyhow thats a whole diffrent thread I guess.

Still though, obviously they worked it out otherwise it wouldn't have happened, but it is curious how they've historically had issues with power interfering with ride performance (VB's launch after the drop track, etc), and somehow 2 back to back launch rides requiring presumably more power than a standard chain lift can be constructed without any known power upgrades.

Something makes me think maybe they did redo the grid structure when nobody was looking, though I'd figure that to be unlikely.

So... No on-ride photo confirmed?

I no for a fact that power was turned off all the way over in Ireland and France a couple of weeks ago for several days and that employees were told it was Pantheon related. That distance from the work site would lead my uneducated mind to think grid.

Interesting - so what do we think actually happened?

From what little I've gathered on here in general is that Festa runs on one grid that also includes San Marco and maybe EfP plus VB, Germany from Oktoberfest through France is another and the last grid is front of the park and the UK countries. I'm probably not quite right there, so please correct this if you know otherwise.

With DK going extinct, more power on that grid became available - however, while FF technically should be on a different grid it's possible they wired it to where there was available power.

Because of the power draw on the Festa grid already being taxed, VB and I forgot the other ride (Tempesto?) aren't able to use their launches simultaneously without VB's launch after the drop track suffering.

So is it possible that Pantheon is on Festa's grid, which then allowed them to also place FF onto Ireland's grid and free up extra power back into VB? If that's the case, it raises a question about what's left for 2021.

From what I understand it's that if you turn the power off to Italy and Festa it also turns the power off to England and Ireland because of how the power runs through the park.

I, too, have heard that grid upgrades have been taking place for the last few years with a specific focus on the areas that were slated to be utilized by Project Madrid.

I'm no electrical engineer, but I wonder if Dominion Power's addition of the Skiffs Creek 500kv transmission line and substation could have led to BGW's grid upgrades. Prior to ImBev the park pulled some power thru the brewery. That was cut after an electrical audit. Dominion may have been "tapped out" (no pun intended) to replace that lost power until they completed the Skiffs Creek line (over the James from Surrey). The new substation is not that far away and could add power to the Kingmill substation behind JCC Fire Station 2.

Has anyone heard if the trains are on site yet?

Drove past the park on my way home today. There is a visible crane that is setup near the spike and is taller the the spike. Looks like possible work for the transfer track and launch as a guess. So my guess is all the track peaces are not installed yet.

The advantages of of molten salt reactors are numerous. If nothing else they can run on all those spent rods hanging around reactor sites.
