I’m overall fine with the announcement (aside from the inconsistency with stats) but I feel like they should have at least mentioned the switch track... It’s a first of its kind and thus would be very marketable.

Edit: forgot Hagrid’s had a switch whoops

It’s also somewhat strange that the 2 announcements we’ve had thus far have had errors (Hershey’s 6 car train mishap and now this) and no POV.

Yeah I don't think the weak announcement had anything to do with Madrid or the design being rushed. The scale and originality on this ride is on par with all but the largest projects in the world, one of the top 3 manufacturers bringing some of their best and most up to date work. It's not like say Tempesto, which is a solid coaster, but not a major project. I think this announcement would have fit with Tempesto.

Even Larry didn’t seem to hyped about it. Shortest presentation with the littlest amount of excitement I’ve seen for a coaster announcement at Busch. Strange.

I'll take it a step further. I was at the exit when Larry was coming out of globe. And I'm not sure who he was speaking with, but he was joking as to how little enthusiasm the crowd was giving him. That kind of surprised me based on what was presented.

I was researching some historic posts for another thread and found this gem:

https://parkfans.net/threads/project-2020-mmxx-pantheon.4887/post-169327

Snippet:
"It's really hard to know if Project Madrid, in its current form, looks anything like Project Madrid did over a year ago when the original documents were first filed. Frankly, we don't even know if there is a current iteration of Project Madrid."

It's like something out of the show "prophets of science fiction"; except "prophets of park attractions"...

Here is Attraction Chasers' recording of the announcement for those (like me - stupid live stream) who didn't get to see it yesterday.

It's funny (or sad, actually) that 24+ hours after the presentation that BGW hasn't reposted the actual presentation ("In case you missed the excitement!”). I mean, think of those poor actors in full costume only to be lost forever...

Come to think of it, why weren't the "Gods" available for photos afterwards?

If I were BG Marketing, I'd do a live "re-do" on the path near Pantheon with those actors ASAP, so the GP could gather round and see the hype up close. Get those wall-signs fixed with accurate info and make it front and center. There better be a good POV, Wendy's bag adverts (I'm serious!) Facebook ads, VA Beach airplane banners, 30-second prime time TV ads, annoying cookies on all websites, and "text XXXXX" for more info if they want anyone to blink at this.

Otherwise, Busch Gardens may receive the official nickname of Botch Gardens from naysayers and I'll be sad. :-(

Methinks thou dost protest much. (Deservedly so)

That and it's not the cookies that are annoying, it's the tacky banner ads and video ads that interfere with your experience on a site... But I digress.

Could be that all the info available at BGWFans and on ParkFans, for months now, really took the wind out of the announcement's sails...
so they just said "F*ck it... everyone already knows this stuff. Just make a big logo... It's all we have left to reveal at this point." ?

Conspiracy theory that’s unlikely:
They have a bigger announcement coming in the winter and that’s when they drop more of Pantheon. So like a SPW announcement.

Conspiracy theory that’s likely:
They botched the announcement date, and then they realized the overlap they decided to not to be in depth. Add in Intamin sowing off a model takes some of the pizazz off the announcement and Harris opening taking away the switch-track announcement.

I think they could do a "Roman ruins" area alongside the train tracks. Old columns interspersed with those monument signs they had for the media thing (corrected). Put them up about where I indicated, so when the train gets to the "start BGWFans video recording” location folks can see a bit of what they just read about.

I dont think this was an extremely big deal outside of trying to sell passes, the real advertising will all be next year. I'm sure this ride will be a crowd favorite too and have plenty of word-of-mouth buzz.

@warfelg Yes, they'll push Pantheon in the winter...but as part of the season ticket campaign. If they do anything beyond it's because Corporate told them how they f-ed up yesterday. After that, it's the opening. Hopefully they figure out what they have by then.

In your "likely" only real hard core coaster enthusiasts would know about Intamin's PA presentation. Heck, they could have used some of it to highlight Pantheon. And they could have done some marketing "magic" ignoring the Hagrid switch track..."hyper switch track blah blah blah”.

Did you forget to take your golf club off when you typed? ?

That's an appropriate and creative "privacy" fence. I like it.
