Just out of curiosity...

How is Crimson too similar to Apollo's Chariot? How is Crimson too similar to bright purple???

You do not see any similarities? Purple is essentially half blue, half red so to say there's no similarity at all between purple and crimson is silly given than red IS a significant essential component of the color purple. Regardless, the concept is how they would both appear, in close proximity, together in the skyline, in less than optimal lighting, etc.

I just think that this color palette is really really dull. It looks boring, like muddy clay. Maybe it’ll look better on the actual coaster but I’m just not impressed so far.

I'm aware of what makes the color purple, but thanks for explaining that to me.

That purple is not the same shade as Apollo. While the crimson you're using would be the color of the paint. So those values don't line up at all. Apollo is super bright in comparison to the crimson that whichever part of the coaster would be.

And I don't think the color really matters too much in the dark, or even in rainy weather?? It should matter on a sunny day, as that's when most people will take out a camera to take pics of it. Which would be why the colors of the coaster would be an issue in the first place, because otherwise it doesn't really matter what color it is.

If you look at the plans, the track is clearly white with back outline. So are the trains.

It's an argument of perception. I really don't understand the persistence to disprove someone's view of if two colors are similar, either side of this. There is no right and wrong. What one person sees might not be what you see.

I love you guys. This is the only place on the internet (yes, I've checked!) where people gather to join forces, combine neural energies, and delve deep into the intricacies of a proposed color palette which will someday coat cold, hard steel. I mean this with all sincerity:

We. Are. Special. Don't ever change. Because if you do, I'll have to go searching the internet again for something even remotely close to what I'm seeing now.
I'm endlessly thankful that our beloved park even thinks to paint its coasters with some sense of imagination. After all, we could just have a Full Throttle. ?

These "color wars" remind me that we've yet to have the BGW (make up some stupid) Story Tellers concoct a name and backstory for this attraction. I sense yet another "duel" in the works, with Priscus and Verus (probably what they'll name the two trains) "launching" in a duel to the death. Red blood drops on the track and trains...

As y'all's local art major and color theory nerd, let me put my two cents in.

There are some colors you can argue are really similar, MMXX red (technically speaking it's closer to sanguine red/blood red and rosewood than crimson but that's a different discussion) and Apollo purple aren't two of those colors. One's dull and one's bright. One's strictly red, one's strictly purple. When desaturated, it reveals two very distinct shades of gray. It can't be up for interpretation because there's no fine line between the colors; they are distinctive from each other and there's not much more to it than that.

I believe that was a quote from the original height waiver request when it was project Madrid. Now that it's MMXX, those cards are off of the table.
