It devolved into jokes about school colors (VT, UVA, W&M) I don’t think anyone over the last page who suggested colors not on the palette was being serious.

Doesn't intamin have some domestic manufacturing operation? I would guess that to be cheaper than shipping steel from Europe.

Nope. Their steel is manufacturered in Germany and shipped all around the world from there. B&M and the US Domestic manufacturers are the only companies that make their products in the US, and only B&M ships it out from the US.

Huh. Interesting. I wonder how much it costs to ship hundreds of tons of steel.

I guess they know their business best and if it were cheaper to setup a domestic plant they would have already... Just seems like such a huge expense.

I thought to send you a pm @b.mac since the next bit is off topic; but the option didn't exist when I clicked you. Does RMC not ship steel out for international coasters then?

So I guess the steel would arrive at Norfolk and then be trucked West to BGW?

I believe that majority of fabrication is by Stakotra, a Slovakian company. I read somewhere that Stakotra bought a piece of Intamin, thus bring Intamin's sole supplier.

Stakotra is one of the manufacturers they contract through, but they're not the sole manufacturer due to the amount of demand Intamin can receive at certain times. They've also been a track manufacturer for Gerstlauer, Zierer, Zamperla, and even some Vekoma projects.

Those nets are called “runoff fencing”. It’s there to prevent any runoff from the construction site to block the train tracks.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - referring to the wooden posts with metal screens on them right next to the railway, not the obvious construction fencing a little further away.
