1) No to rebuilding Drachen Fire. Just, no. They need something more headlining rather than “Hey, we brought back the coaster that everyone hated! Give us your money!!!! Ride this redundant looper instead of the airtime filled Twisted Timbers up the street!” There’s a reason coaster concepts are dead.

If you look a little more carefully you would see that warfelg was saying if they went straight into building a coaster back there, it would be a similar situation to Drachen Fire. Reading comprehension is important.

His point is kind of moot anyways. Drachen Fire was a failure because it sucked, not because pf where it was. Besides the point that the coaster is including a new hamlet, if they built a giga back there it would still be a massive attraction.

I305 disproves your point. World-class, in the back of the park (despite being visible from the whole park), doesn't get long lines often (outside of Halloween operations).

I think that one has something to do with the fact that it had a rough first season, was closed down for a while for trim brakes to be installed on the drop, and caused so many people to pass out. As it is, that first turn is still too intense for a lot of people. I-305 is only world class because so few coasters are in the giga realm. I find it to be a poorly engineered ride and understand why so many non thrill seekers would skip it.

Of course it would be massive. Doesn't mean everyone is going out of their way to get to it.

Besides what's better for the park?

1) A giga with nothing around it?
-OR-
2) A giga where you walk past shots, food, rides, and shows?

The answer is 2. It's always 2. That get's the park more money, gives them the ability to handle bigger crowds easier, and in the long run gives them more ways to make news.

But lets pretend for a minute that DF was a B&M and a great ride. Without more back there would it still be a must go corner of the park? Would people be going back in that area?

2 of my childhood parks (Lake Compounce and Hersheypark) put great rides with nothing around it (Boulderdash and Wildcat) and ridership was low until they finally started building more stuff back in there as a reason.

I305 also scares off 75% of the GP

That is a very specific statistic.  Can you reference the study?  What kind of metric did they use?  Do you have a sample of questionnaire they sent out or was it a spot study?  Did they poll folks in the park?

Third highest ridership in the park behind Dominator and Racer 75. Afterwards there's a pretty sharp drop off to the 4th place ride, and you'll never guess which one it is.

This directly contradicts the park's statement that Volcano is the most-ridden attraction in the park each season.

Huh? With that capacity and frequent downtime?

Now I wonder what BGW's most-ridden is.

I don't know who made the statement but they definitely did not look at any yearly ridership numbers. Volcano definitely has the longest line whenever it is open, but it is nowhere near and has never been even close, to the most ridden ride in the park any given season since it opened.

I think it is worth noting that Lumberhack is slated to return for HOS 2018. I can see at least three obvious explanations (and of course variants combining any of them).

1. Work in that area of the park won’t begin before November 2018. Or construction can be accomplished without razing the maze.

2. That area is not part of the current Project Madrid plans.

3. Project Madrid has been cancelled altogether.

I also think it will be interesting to see if the DF station building is used for HOS, as that could provide additional clues.

Is it possible that Lumberhack could be moved?

how would they move the large set in the woods? i feel as if it is meant to be semi-permanent

I think given that nothing has happened yet its pretty likely that Madrid if its still on is a 2020 or later project. Given that Lumberhack is still here this year and the new Christmas Town tras in thing which would be odd to be running through a major construction zone its first year going it seems likely to be that work might start spring of 2019.

LOTS of work going on in and around the drachen fire station. Numerous vehicles around it and on the path towards it. This is perhaps the most activity I’ve ever seen. Maintenance galor.
