RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

What about the soil samples by Festhaus Park?

Edit: I'm not trying to argue that this is a coaster, but there is a lot of things that don't add up in one way or another so far.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Given that some past new-country BGW rumors -- for whatever they're worth -- have suggested a hamlet build-out one year followed by its major anchor ride in a subsequent year, it wouldn't be too surprising to see a hamlet debut with a big-but-not-gargantuan attraction right off the bat.

As much as I want the gigantic roller coaster, I think my ASCII-art Star Flyer is more likely to come true. Not so sure about the name I suggested for it.

Totally agree... good conversation here without much of the the bickering and touchy sniping found in too many other online forums, past and present.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

This seems to me like it could be a big plan... like a 5 year plan for expansion. If they are making a new Hamlet in Festa Field, they are probably doing the soil testing across the Rhine for a new foot bridge crossing to potentially connect to another new country in Festhouse Park a few years down the road.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I present the single biggest shred of evidence for a coaster
2. Such structure will not obstruct light from adjacent property.
Staff Comment: Given that the attraction is proposed as an open, lattice-type structure and that it is not in close proximity to adjacent properties, staff finds that the proposed structure will not obstruct light from adjacent property.

Typically I don't think that a starflyer would be described as "open, lattice-type structure". I think they would be more calling it a tower. Typically in other filings like this, a structure described like this is a coaster.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

^I agree (mostly cause I'm rooting for a coaster). That was the wording for Tempesto's, and "open," to me, sounds like a coaster structure.

Only one thing is for sure for this attraction: Busch is doing a damn good job at keeping us guessing (cue Zachary with some leaked plans ;-D)

Always has been an idea/thought to me. gives the park another full loop... Wishful thinking i know...lol

Just playing devil's advocate here...

Open, lattice-like structure:

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I like that the park is doing this as it's been 10 years now since it last opened a big, new attraction in Griffon and it's due for a new big attraction. But to me I can't see why it would be a Star Flyer unless they are restricted by cost from corporate. Why put in a 315' flyer? Just to beat KD's Intimidator 305 and have the highest theme/amusement park attraction in the state and like the eighth tallest in the country? I think if they wanted to do that they would have done it a while ago instead of trying to do it now. Having bragging rights for something like this just doesn't fit the park. Also a Star Flyer is a ride that is at a lot of other parks in the US and overseas. And that doesn't fit with BGW's reputation and history for putting in new rides that are unique and have first of their kind features with the exception of Tempesto. And with one this tall I don't know what the ride capacity is vs a giga coaster. So this just doesn't add up to me, but who knows.

Now I do agree with others that think that this will be a great building block for a new hamlet/country as for where this is being put the park is going to at least have to put in a couple of new pathways to get to it as Festa Field has always been for the animals and employees and not for guests. So they might as well just turn it into a new hamlet instead of just having guests walking through the pastures to get to it. This is just how I'm looking at this.

Am I the only one who find the claim in the article that you will be able to see it from Jamestowne a little unquestionably?.ca

Oktoberfest opened with flat rides, and BBW came later.

San Marco opened with flat rides, and Pompeii came later.

Festa opened with flat rides, Roman Rapids and AC came later.

If it could be a new hamlet (and I acknowledge it's a big "if"), I'd prefer capital be focused on good, solid theming rather than a marquee attraction that could be added later...

(Edited for clarification)

If you are looking at the other threads, you may have noticed that Seas is in TERRIBLE shape financially. They have not recovered from BlackFish and things keep getting worse.
I can't imagine Seas spending the money necessary for a Fury class coaster at this point in time. Frankly I don't see them spending the money for a new fully flushed out hamlet either. Now, infrastructure for and a tall ride in a potentially new hamlet, maybe.

Reverse side, just from working in a township office, when that's what was shown to us we would just say "oh a tower".

They've been struggling for a few years, yet company-wide, they spent $175 million on new attractions just for 2017 alone.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

That is quiet true, but consider two things.
1. They have largely been at higher profile locations so a greater ROI potential
2. Things have hit a new low.

I doubt it’ll ascend to a full 315’, but in any case Eiffel Tower’s structure would still be taller at 331’.
