RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

And you weren't drunk ;)

Lol. Cute.

Anyway, I don't think this is going to be a Starflyer. I think Busch will give us something better than that after serving us Tempesto.

I agree. Especially with this much early work. Something like a Starflyer would be a last minute, "Hey we can do shorter but we want to do X feet."

It all make sense now they are removing bitten so they have room for the giga coaster. I heard rumors that it was being taken down because the new "coaster" will travel thru festhaus park. Take that with a grain of salt.

This is extremely false, in that this new attraction is for 2019, two years from now. Plus, Bitten isn't in the marked utility area, but if there is any concern for any of the houses, Lumberhack is within the marked utility area.

In the linked article this is stated:

"The Board of Supervisors will consider the request at its meeting at 5 p.m. on Aug. 8 at the County Government Center Board Room, 101 Mounts Bay Road."

Does someone who is local know if they live stream these meetings or maybe they are archived and posted later for public viewing?

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

They usually are streamed on the County's website

Coaster confirmation?!?! Appears to be nothing but speculation...

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

The documents for the meeting are now posted on JCC's website (linked below) - thank you for the freedom of information act! I read through everything the county posted and not much sticks out to me, other than the site lines exhibit (showing on pictures how the highest point will look). The documents state that the exhibits simulate the width of the structure (the bracket in the images). To me, it seems like the width is the same from every angle - indicating a circular structure, such as a star flyer or tower ride of sorts. Also, they define the attraction as an open, lattice-like structure. This same terminology was used with Tempesto's height waiver though, so it could potentially contradict the tower ride theory. Also there's the fact that utility markings and soil brings are also happening in the Rhine, so that also complicates any theories.

I'm also attaching a blown-up image of the approximate proposed location provided by the county.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Has anyone thought that Roman Rapids could have its last season soon, and that this new "thing" could occupy part of that space? Looking at where the tallest point is proposed, that Rapids station area could be used IF this were a coaster, and the lift hill, though steep, could lead in that direction to that high-point.

My thoughts are in a paint drawing below. EDIT The ride envelope circle is not scaled, just an approximation, and for a giga, would need to be far larger.

I know RR is a staple of sorts, but it is from 1992(?) and with Le Scoot coming back from the dead, it would be a water-ride loss, but also a financial gain not having to spend cash on the water system and upkeep, which I'm sure is huge.

I'm trying to say anything semi-logical to keep me from believing this is a star flyer at this point.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

If that image is correct in the highest point. Then I really think this isn't going to be a coaster. When you compare it to the length and footprint of AC, you find it hard to believe a coaster with that height can fit in that area.

Then again, I thought the balloon test was for fireworks. So I'm probably wrong.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

It says the width of the structure at at highest point is shown by the bracket labeled 315 above the existing grade. So basically the orange bracket that was shown on the visual impact pictures is the width at its highest point. All this points to a star flyer. If this was a giga it would have multiple spots where the ride would go above 60 feet unless it's a low to the ground coaster. I say this is a star flyer based on the evidence.
