RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Joking aside, how about a proper Ferris Wheel? One with large cabins that are enclosed with AC?

The Coca Cola Wheel in Orlando is 400 feet tall.

But, the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is 200. 315 feet seems to be right in the middle!

Why not a S&S Space Shot? They go to 300’ I believe. 315’ gives you some buffer, or maybe throw a mast or flag on top?

Seriously, Space Shots, Parachute Drops, Giant Wheels, StarFlyers—throw in smaller Flying Frisbees and their ilk for good measure—I hate all of these “drop thrill” type rides (all of which I consider gimmicky, other than Giant Wheels, they’re just slow and boring).

I will be majorly disappointed with anything other than a coaster. Preferably B&M.

So something I was thinking about:

If it's more in the vain of Fury305, I would call it "Matador" or something like that. Keep the new Hamlet as Madrid, and the coaster is your ride on a bull, or better yet, you are running with the bulls.

^ This. I have thought of this exact hamlet/ride theme (and even name) for YEARS. My master plan called for two hamlets*: Spain (Madrid, Barcelona?) with a “Running of the Bulls” themed coaster plus a “New Spain (somewhere in Mexico).” New World, but hey, we have Canada after all? Should be a major draw. *Well, countries in today's park, pick your favorite hamlet name.

I would be happy with coaster coming from Oktoberfest over the Rhine, or a new Hamlet with a coaster on the Festa side. Throw in a dark ride for year-round operation. A of couple flats (maybe even repurpose the Monster once in Oktoberfest & Festa’s Sea Dragon, if they still own them, or move "La Catapulta" there to set a ride retheming record and replace it in New France). Couple of restaurants. Done.

I really like this idea. Madrid and Mexicano.

This likely belongs in a concepts thread, but an idea is forming here:
I like your idea for one side with a coaster crossing the Rhine, some eateries, a few flats. With Mixicano is could have a few flats, maybe a Ferris Wheel, but save a possible big coaster or other big ride for later. A show themed around Dia de los Muertos.

I think what's challenging about this for the park:
This is one of the few places to put a ride this high that could appease Kingsmill, but still include the height. So it puts this new ride, if it is a coaster, right near Apollo. So it would be logical to put a dark ride in the other Hamlet (since it seems to be their MO). But that would put DarKastle, Bolt, and a potential other dark right in close proximity. I kinda wish that could be switched up a bit for balance.

And for some flat ride ideas:
Disk'O, Ferris Wheel (since we don't have one and it would be nice), a Music Express/Himalaya ride, top spin. Rides like that would be some fun flats to have.

If a rollercoaster comes from Oktoberfest to Spain then they could call it the Tejano Coaster to blend the two cultures. It's perfect!

I would love to see a reconstruction of the La Familia Segrada Cathedral in Barcelona. It could be Busch Garden's Magic Kingdom castle. And it would be completed before the real thing. Lol. It's been under construction for like 100 years!

Not gonna happen.

Observation wheels are crazy expensive and also cost a lot of money to operate and maintain. The Orlando Eye cost $90 million to construct and the High Roller in Vegas cost a whopping $300 million.

If BGW (or any park) want an observation wheel they would have to up-charge a lot of money for it to be financially viable.  This is why you see these wheels near resorts and destination areas, and big cities in the middle of a business and entertainment district, and not in theme parks.

That being said, I'd love for the park to get one just to annoy the hell out of the Kingsmill neighbors, especially with the nighttime lighting on the entire wheel!

That ride is a pain in the ass.  SFA doesn't allow single riders, so they might be a manufacturer requirement.

Lame, I didn't know that, I have ridden it as a single rider but that was several years ago. It was my favorite ride there!

Really hoping this is not a (less expensive) observation wheel or another drop tower.. We already have Mach Tower?

If this is a coaster when do you think we will start to see prep work such as markings?

Given the time frame on the height waiver I would be shocked if we saw any work before Christmas Town and I would guess that spring 2018 is more likely. Rembber once tgey get the waiver they still have to fill permits and then contract on it so this won't be a a right aeay thing.

How about a 300 foot version of the balloon ride at Disney Springs. I just don't think this is a roller coaster. I think the balloon ride would be a classier ride versus a Star Flyer and something unique for the park.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

First huge bit of info tonight:
  • Preliminary Project Madrid site work has already begun.

The particularly astute may be able to spot a few small things on site, but, right now at least, most things should still be able to fly under the radar pretty easily. It is happening though. I have seen proof.

Second huge bit of info:
  • The project area is larger than previously anticipated.

We know something is happening between Festa Italia and the Rhine River. I now have reason to believe that the Project Madrid site will be large enough to impact the Rhine itself. In fact, there is a small (but noteworthy) chance that it (whatever it is) could cross the Rhine. Let that sink in for a moment...

If I weren't dealing with such a solid source, I'd not believe what I just typed either. There could be a completely innocent explanation for it—maybe they're just running more utilities to Festa Field over/under the Rhine. Right now, I don't know. What I do know though is that Project Madrid keeps getting more and more intriguing...
