Not being a metallurgic specialist, I'd guess that painted metal undisturbed or otherwise scuffed up would take a lot longer than 2 years for it to rust to a point as to cause issues with a roller coaster. I could be wrong though.
Yea, but two years is two years. So if it takes 40 years to be an issue, 40-2 is 38. Less time for ROI. But I’m not going to argue with capacity constraints as a ROI limiting factor as @warfelg eluded too

If they haven't recouped their ROI in 40 years something is really really wrong. So no rust isn't a problem unless whoever manufactured and painted the ride for Intamin massively screwed up.

? How do you recoup your return on investment!? You recoup your investment. You don’t recoup your return. Lol.

The more more money you make from the ride the larger your roi. Therefore the longer you have an opportunity to make a return the better since all else being equal you will make more return.

of course there are other factors, which you alluded to and i agree with.

Even without insider info they aren't thinking ROI 40 years out. It's more like 3-5 years tops most likely. They aren't thinking ROI from LNM still or Apollo still.

Sure they are. Every time they decide to fix what is broken they look at the cost of repairing it compared to the return they will get from repairing it. If there isn’t money to be made those rides will go the way of Curse of Darkcastle...

Just an FYI, Rust really isn't any issue. Stress fractures and structural fatigue from prolonged use, primarily in the form of cycling the ride is normally the limiting factor. Otherwise, with the proper care you could see these structures last 100s of years just like some of the older steel bridges you see around.

Sea opened BGW in July last year. They kept it open for almost an entire year at this point. They also operated semi normal Halloween, and Christmas events.. Let's compare that to CF they opened what 2 parks in July lastyear??? They announced that they were cutting back on their operating days and basically canceled any attempt at a Halloween event. Then ran a 2 week Christmas event at what 4 Parks and the closed all their parks till Memorial Day week. Yeah I will take having the park open over having it shuttered while the company opens 1 new coaster at one park. Also it would appear to me that Sea cared MORE about providing services and entertainment then one of their closest competitors.
CF may have closed the majority of their parks in 2020 BUT atleast they said they were closing them - it’s 2021 now and clearly figured out a way to work through 2020 (being honest to people) and also open new some of their new attractions in 2021.

I’ve congratulated SEAS on their 2020 efforts and business savvy decisions, but it’s 2021 now and what do they have to show for it? Lackluster staffing and idle rides that they’ve marketed as new attractions to sell memberships? They are silent on purpose and have sold existing and potential members on their new attractions on the basis of potential and anticipation vs. delivery.

All these conversations are happening because of their decision be silent.

Alright, so a couple of updates for you guys.

First of all, I want to apologize for not being very active. This September I start 10th grade and have been on vacation and very busy.

Now the updates.

1. This has probably been mentioned, but there are now ride photo cameras at the bottom of the tophat, right before the outward banked turn.

2. We (me and my dad) were talking to an employee yesterday who said that Pantheon will open this year. He just doesn't know when this year.

That's all for now!

My fourth-cousin who worked at the park in 1996 said Pantheon will open this year too.

Sorry, no ill-will or anything, but that’s not really verifiable or an update lol. It was mentioned a while back a direct quote from the park president “It opens when it opens.” So I think we can put more stock in that, rather than hopeful employees trying to avoid difficult conversations with guests.

hey, a dippin dots stand style rumor is still better than the park saying "not opening this year." it seems like the general consensus among employees is that its opening this year, could be true, could be completely false. only time will tell

I know that they usually just go off of the first thing they hear, and i dont really believe that its opening this year. As much as i want it to, i just think its unlikely if it doesnt open by july 4th

Only time from my memory the employees have been unanimously right about something was Mach Tower, but that also was the worst kept secret in the park.

Well hopefully pantheon is better than the worst ride in the surrounding 6 states.
