RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Three. Everyone always forgets Steel Dragon 2000.  But is Morgan still even in business?

They operate under a different name now. Morgan was bought out by Chance rides.

I think Vekoma with the new track design could do it.

Mack, Vekoma might be able to do this as well. We don't know the capabilities of the RMC T-Rex yet, so they could jump into this.

Mack is very pricey. DC Rivals Alone was 23 Million, Time Traveler is 28 million, and Helix is 29 million

Fair to say something about DC Rivals.

Unfair to bring up Time Traveler, a triple launch spinning coaster. Helix is a duel launch coaster.

Fury cost $30mil. I305 was $25mil. Millenium Force was $25mil (in 2000). Leviathan was $28mil.

DC Rivals actually fits in Hypercoaster prices. Apollo was $20mil, Skyrush was $25mil, Intimidator was $23mil.

So it looks like Mack's launches are a little overpriced, but that hyper cost fits right in line.

Let's be real: if it's a giga it will be B&M.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

I disappear from the forums for a month....this is anarchy ya’ll.

We have solid evidence of NOTHING. This speculation game is a circle and honestly clutters the thread. Ergo, when fact based evidence emerges it is a clusterf*** finding it.

I hate to sound cynical, because I truly do share your enthusiasm. The beautiful thing about this industry, and what we do on the forum is open up a whole world of creativity and community.

However, in the realm of professionalism, and...well, the real world. We don’t know a thing except for the permits that have been put forward.

I have gotten messages of “reliable sources” on social media with the source conveniently blurred out. But, for anyone who is socially aware with the “fake news” epidemic sweeping our nation, it emerged exactly from here. The internet.

So please, check your sources before you fan the flames, and some damage is done to the forums credibility. Because people have, and do check these threads for “news” and can’t distinguish fact from fan fiction, particularly when you claim to have “reliable” sources.

Peace.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

Again. Some who visit this forum cannot distiguish fact from fan faction.

There is a rumor a coaster is being built, based off some factual evidence (i.e the ground testing, and height waivers) that is fair, and valid in itself. Some of us then dive deeper into fan fiction. Spewing baseless claims that they know the exact manufacturer, or something of that nature based off no proof.

So yes, this is all speculation, but there’s a sophomoric execution on some of our parts in distinguishing what is realistic and probable, or what is smoke and mirrors.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

So, with the baseless claims hopefully behind us, lets analyze a popular theory with the data we do have proof of (highest point and project area).

Lets try to work backwards from the highest point of the ride for a moment...

Both B&M gigas have thus far have included a long block section before their lifts. We'll assume for now that, if we are considering the feasibility of a B&M giga for BGW, that giga would also include this seemingly standard pre-lift block.

So, looking at Fury, it has a length from the start of its pre-lift block to the end of its lift (read: its highest point) of roughly 515 feet. Its sister, Leviathan, has a pre-lift through lift measurement of roughly 500 feet. Lets be generous and give our estimate a little buffer and call it 525 feet.

So, what does 525 feet from the highest point of Project Madrid look like?

Can anyone attest as to how the new Vekomas are? Someone suggested them for a giga.

Right now we have no little to no clue of who will manafacture it for all we know it could be a new vekoma or a mack or even a single rail RMC.

Vekoma might feel like Intamin judging by the track.

RE: Project Madrid: New Hamlet? Giga Coaster? 315' Tower?

The "feel" of a company's coasters are really not a result of their track design at all. It all comes down to how that track is used. For example, Tennessee Tornado uses Arrow's standard track but it feels nothing like a classic Arrow looper. Another, closer to home example? Verbolten. It uses very similar track to what you'll find on older Intamin coasters but, again, it feels nothing like an old Intamin.

It is all about design.
