You have got to be out of your mind to believe that Kings Mill doesn't have some say into what this park does. Seriously, you have no understanding of how politics work. They have a tremendous effect on what the park can do and what the park can get accomplished. Again, over HALF of the board and city elected officials live in this community. Large, tremendous amusements don't get approved without the important, gentle, and tactful use of politics.
To be clear, though, you're saying the ride will be 315' tall above the ground?

Just want to get you on the record here.

I love the differences in typing vs speaking in language! It's so easy to misunderstand...yes, yes, yes...I only meant 3 total launches (during that portion of the ride! :)
In all respect, you definitely said two launches on the spike and three on the top hat. No worries bro, its just a little slip up

I can only tell what I know from the vantage point of the park. They maintain good relations with them not because they need to but because it's easier that way. I fully understand how the politics work because it doesn't matter that members of the board and elected officials live there. They can always be voted out and they also know that BGW brings significant revenue to do the county and they have no desire to do anything to jeopardize that. You know why because BGW has the trump card. A portion of the undeveloped land the park sits on is in York County. The park knows that they can get their property annexed to York Count if they need to.

  1. "Finished Grade is defined as 72 feet above sea level"
  2. "Attraction up to 315 feet above finished grade."
  3. "(or up to 387 feet above mean sea level)"

What do I think this means... this point of the ride as defined by possible height starts at 72 feet above the sea level, rising up to 315 feet, which if added together, would take us to 3. (72+315 = 387 feet above mean sea level.)

I really encourage you to read this wonderful post by Zachary. He describes how the park has detailed to the county the height of both the top hat and the spike and that they differ from the first height waiver that was applied for 2 years ago. It really is a wonderful article that explains all this very well. If you have read it already then I encourage you to read it again.

Literally nowhere did he say it was a giga. He said that elevation means more above grade in this case rather than above sea level, putting it in the 200 ft range.

This fits perfectly with I have heard from people close to both the park and Kings Mill. On a side note Kings Mill official statement on the issue during the height waver hearing was more or less rides don't bother them much as more ones really don't have any significant give what they already have. Kings Mill is more worried about late night noise pollution coming from the park.
