If the 76 mph top speed is anything to go by I seriously doubt the top hat will be 315 feet.

Although I wonder how the spike will be able to get a train 315 feet in the air... LSMs?

Maybe the launch goes up the spike. Like keeps accelerating you up the spike as you enter it. ?

Correct. They are being moved. I don't want to intrude on Zachary's job, but I will point out that there is plenty of space across the train tracks...

As you wrote, this appears to be a variation of the Intamin LSMs, resembling the recently announced 4 Launch coaster at Parc Asterix (scheduled to open in 2021). I'm guessing that "Launch 2" might also be a "Launch 3" - train goes partially up the "Top Hat?" and goes backwards (with a "Launch 4" boost) up the Spike then back down and up and over the "Top Hat?". Look at the No Limits recreation of the Intamin presentation you'll see that and (just guessing) some of the elements (oh please include inverted airtime hill and extreme wall stall).

I can imagine coming down the "Top Hat?" then an airtime hill, then down again "skimming" over the Rhine. Very cool.

But...question -
  1. Where will they pasture the horses? It's too far of a walk to Festhaus Park (and dangerous for the horses. They currently walk them via the Italy back roads.) I highly doubt they close off the new pathway during park hours to move them.
(Edits cuz I'm old and can't read.)

Thoughts:

-It looks incredible. Regardless of the specific height and speed details, it is clear that this is a massive coaster that will utilize the terrain to it's full advantage and at the very least provide BGW with another iconic coaster feature with that swooping drop to the river.

-If the documents are correct about BOTH the spike and top hat (?) approaching 315', oh boy. If that's the case this isn't just a massive coaster, it's a freakin monster. I have to wonder how to really interpret "approaching 315 above grade'" though, it would be nice to see the exact language. There's a lot of room for variation in that statement. How close is "approaching," does it mean within 5-10' or within 50-100'? Is "grade" specifically referring to the land directly under the top hat or just the lowest point of the element (which would be down by the river)? My point is I could see that statement implying anything from a roughly 300' elevation difference from the bottom of the river to the top of a 200'-ish spike (this is more in line with the "leaked slide" stats) or, in a best case scenario, we could be looking at a 315' top hat with a nearly 400' (!!!) drop down to the river.

-Kind of surprised there isn't a new hamlet. I get it because this is already such a major project that a whole new "area" to go with it would just make this a project of mind-boggling proportions. But it's such a huge plot of land that not using some more of it for things besides the coaster seems like kind of a waste. Maybe Madrid is going in the Drachen Fire area and will be headlined by a Star Flyer or something based on the balloon test a few weeks ago?

-I really, really hope BGW can return to their roots and name/theme this after some intimidating mythical creature or figure. No more Vikings or Daredevils. Give me the next Griffon/Loch Ness/Alpengeist.

All the plans have is acreage and footer/structure placement. Specific details are nearly nonexistent at this point.

I just looked at the Intamin video again. Top speed anywhere on the ride was about 67mph. The designed Top Hat is 147 feet. This thing has got to pushing eyeballs back in their sockets to LSM up something more than twice the size if the plans are correct. I'll hold off on the funnel cake until after I've ridden.

I was talking the LSMs taking the train up the backwards spike 315 feet in the air and then bringing the train back down. Intamin has had holding magnets before on Possessed.

Yes, that's what I posted previously. I believe where Zach has Launch 2 is also Launch 3 (backwards up the spike). I'm just saying that their original design shows the top hat at 147 feet and you're going about 66mph. You gotta have one heck of a speed bump to crest a top. hat twice the height.

You're talking something like this?

Similar. Watch the Intamin video posted on the info pages. After watching, look at the guesstimate map. On the large green straightaway is marked Launch 2. As you enter the straightaway, you get boosted to the top hat but not fast enough to make it over. So your train falls backwards along that same green straight. It gets boosted again as you go backwards up the spike. Now down you go forward into that straightaway again... Another boost (I guess that makes it 4 launches as the Parq Asterix design) and you have enough speed to crest the top hat.

But, as I said, their top hat is 147 ft (another site says 167ft) at 67mph. If BGWs plans are read correct, it's gotta go a heck of a lot faster to crest a 300ft top hat.

Here's a clearer spec of the Parq coaster done with No Limits.
No limits spec of Intamin at Parq Asterix.

If this is the coaster BGW is getting, then I will not be making the 1,300 mile trip from Dallas to my home park in 2020...I will be going to Tampa instead! I probably would have liked this coaster better if it did not have that backwards launch, and stupid spike, which I feel is very unnecessary, and imo an eyesore in the BGW skyline. Shuttle coasters just seem ugly, and very outdated to me. Although far fetched, I was hoping for an RMC T-Rex, not a possible shuttle coaster from Intamin. This disappoints me more than Tempesto! ?

So has anyone compared these drawings to the ones for the Rhine work from last month? Are the crossings close?
