General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

Just got this crazy idea for BGWs marketing team after Spire “Tallest……Fastest……Longest…….hybrid coaster in the world!”

Just a thought maybe!

It’s definitely controversial going with 3 low capacity launch coaster in a row with 2 of the having a swing launch but who can’t help but to not get on a 330+ foot spiraling coaster? And if the seats happen to face opposite of each other it will only increase the number of re-rides. It’s unique and there seems to be plenty of room to fit another major coaster back there (hopefully a terrain RMC hybrid or single rail).

Seeing that puts a little more context in my mind. But still not super enthused. Its a 42,000 sq ft area. About the same area as the flats package in San Marco. I would say you can maybe get a snack stand in the turn area with a backstage road going there. Slip in 2 flats across from it.

It would almost be best if they can flip this IMO. If somehow the turn was next to VBolt, and the spire was across from it, they might be able to make effective use of the space by opening up the side by the train where they could even expand to the other side of it if they wanted.

Article on today's WAVY TV 10 website about how JCC will vote today on extending the height waiver. There's a short video in the article but not really any new info.

Anyone else hoping they vote no???
And if they do we can get a new gen Vekoma back there to get us a modern multi looper? (Nothing against Alpengeist, just a little more aggressive and intense when compared to some other companies versions)

As far as I can tell there isn't even any real opposition from even King's Mill to an extention so voting it down would be unbelievably shocking.

Damn. Good point. Maybe we should have rallied against it this time? 😋
