General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

Kingda Ka far as I've heard and seen has that kind of boost button for use when necessary. Mornings the first 15 minutes or so worth of riders launch WAY faster than usual over the top. The rest of the day is pretty consistent, sometimes with the exception being after a breakdown. It's a very noticeable difference. From what I remember when speaking with the lead engineer of Six Flags, the top speed as advertised isn't really the normal top speed of operation.

Thus, I'd say it's plausible this ride could be advertised at 100mph and maybe occasionally runs at that speed, but usually goes a bit slower. The main difference with this ride is it's a shuttle without a tall hill to get over, meaning it doesn't need that boost to ensure there isn't a rollback. I wouldn't expect some sort of boost for that reason, even if it could theoretically happen.

Yes, KK and TTD have a higher speed to launch the train in the mornings without riders because the trains don't have enough momentum to go over the top hat, but they do not use this with riders on it. I agree with you that this ride would not have such a feature.

And no, this isn't what was teased at the end of yesterday's article either.

Right now there are THREE new pieces of news that I obtained thus far today. The new 2021 article is the biggest of those three things. The tease at the end of yesterday's article is probably for something tomorrow.

@ControlsEE, if I remember I’ll get a video of KK with riders in the morning next season. I don’t know about TTD, but KK does indeed run at a higher speed for that small window early in the day. It looks almost unbelievable because it’s so fast over the top, not like that Xcelerator video, but still way faster than normal operation the rest of the day.

Also wow, crazy that there’s more big news coming. Looking forward to hearing it!

TTD actually does not have that "turbo" button that KK does. When TTD begins running for the day (or after an extended breakdown), they will slowly load up the car row by row, cycling each train a number of times with only the front X number of rows filled before adding another one. It has to do with how the computer calculates the launch speed based on the previous few launches. If the train were to go from empty to full, the computer would not be expecting the sudden jump in weight and would not provide enough power to clear the hill. The turbo button on KK was added as a way around this.

Eitherway, there is no reason for 2021 to have this as its a simple shuttle coaster.

Careful your server can only take so many teases before it gets over loaded and crashes.
