General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

The much anticipated post about Project 2021, including POV and off-ride videos. We‘d like to add a special thanks to Jake and Calvin for their NoLimits ninja skills!

If it is a glorified bent Superman: EFK, then this will be a bigger downgrade from what stood before than even Verbolten was. (In before Cedar Fair wastes the former Volcano or Vortex plots for 2021 announcements.)

If it goes beyond vertical in those spikes, then we might have something special.

I don't wanna rain on any parades, but overall, good work! All I'll say:

This is BOGO coaster, tempering your expectations is probably prudent.

Also I'm afraid even with all the disclaimers the speculative part is gonna get passed around here like gospel, not to mention fb and yt. brb, grabbing popcorn.

I appreciate the effort put into the article and the video is beautiful........but really? There has to be more rides coming to this area cause this would be a waste open fairly flat land. Maybe the trains go up that big spike backwards that way you experience the 300+ feet facing straight down.

I’m still #TeamSpiral. Beyond vertical seems likely on the back spike, but I think a giant spiral is more visually appealing.

Also, in case anyone is looking to make their own recreations of the ride layout, these are the officially listed colors on the documents:

We are unsure which color goes to which part of the ride at this point.

Good work everyone who put that together, thank you.

Ive said this before but any coaster on this scale is nothing to be scoffed at, even if its not the giga most pictured at first. At the very least it will be the only coaster of this scale to offer a turn between the launch and big hill which is cool, and as the article points out the potential is there for other unique twists on a layout that appears simple at first.

I will say my one big hope (not expecting it but holding out hope) is that they either run the trains backwards or offer both backwards and forwards seats somehow. I do think building a drop this tall and not allowing the riders to see the distance between themselves and the ground at its highest point would be a HUGE whiff/wasted opportunity.
