General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

Pantheon’s spike truly does look like a knife cutting through the sky. It makes me think, what if project 2021 was just a launch out, take a sweeping turn, launch into a vertical spike, and then back down.

I hope this isn’t what we see because there will already be 2 other coasters in the park with the straight up then ride backwards feature. I’d hate to see that happen to a height waiver that has so much potential.

Well, they've filed a Site Plan Amendment for a "Germany Expansion" project with the county: https://comdev.jamescitycountyva.go...e/#/plan/b33cfe89-4654-42f2-92eb-05f551cf5561

No documents included, but perhaps there will be at some point. Commence the debate on whether or not calling it a "Germany Expansion" means a new hamlet is ruled out...

Many times with these, the documents are only available if you visit the county office. I'm positive @Zachary and his cronies are ontop of it. I expect some post teasing an "incoming news" anytime now..

*Edit sometimes it takes a bit longer if the county tries to be annoying and they have to FOIA the data. Of course, there's also a recent trend of parks trying to claim certain data like this is critical to security and try to exempt it from FOIA requests.

I thought JCC was notorious for having an online file viewing system, unlike York?

For certain documents, yes. See my edit above as parks have been coming up with creative loopholes to make the documents harder to come by.

I'd assume that we won't see exact plans for awhile until close to construction unless there's a leak if that's the case. I think Pantheon was 6 months out when the actual plans became visible?

Yep. This may just be an amended partial site plan. They may have adjusted the footers in the shoreline or whatever.

If you look at all the information it looks like this is for a building of some kind. It could be for work on the drachenfire building but I'm not on an expert on this stuff. Screenshot_20191030-144604.png

Also looks like we might have some information on the size of the expansion. This seems like a pretty large area that they will be building in.

Can anyone do a map overlay where it shows if the area ground surveys were completed in encompasses 5 acres, or if 5 acres is much larger?

I actually looked this up the other day because I was curious, and for Pantheon we got the full layout plan in early February. That is compared to the RPA impact plan (the current most recent step for 2021), which we got in August of 2018 for Pantheon but in October of 2019 for 2021. Point being I wouldn’t expect anything substantially revealing again until early next year.

The Pantheon "site area" probably included moving the pastures and the bridge area, which makes it seem quite large.
