Project 2021/Drachen Spire: Intamin Multi-Launch Shuttle Giga Coaster [Cancelled]

General Information:​

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

Looking at the old Drachen Fire photos, could be for old irrigation lines. There was a lot of grass and shrubs around the area. And there are still utility boxes alongside the maintenance building.

Definitely blue markings. Maybe stretching here, but don't accelerator models need water coolant systems because of the powerful launch?

Another possibility is that these are markings done by the park to help with the placement of CT decorations along the train route. In fact I think that's probably the most likely cause. If the these were utility markings then there would be a lot more than just the water lines marked.

If there were blue markers on the verbolten side, that would give us the answer.

I believe the coaster tour walks along that path next to verbolten. Might be a good way to see if there were flags.

Seeing it mapped our brings one thought to mind. The former fields across from my house were turned into a very large apartment complex. At the edges all around the site A silt fence was installed before any excavation and land transformation could occur. If what has been said is true and the Excavation company is just moving across the Rhine when the work on Pantheon is complete maybe the extreme outsides of the project work area are being marked for Silt or safety fence placement.

Just my thoughts.

Bear in mind, other than the RPA and the height waiver, we've seen zero plans submitted to JCC. So the park really can't do much in the way of land transformation or clearing until they get some plans approved.

I wouldn't expect these to be that at this stage. They would likely have to finish land clearing. Also we saw nothing of the sort for Pantheon so it seems unlikely that the park would now do it for a different ride less than a year later.

I still think the most likely explanation is that this is related to Christmas and not 2021

I think you're right. I think the blue flags are for the lights they placed in those fields last Christmas. They are probably getting started on the gridding out of rows of lights.
