General Information:

"Project Drachen Spire," is a community-generated identifier for the Intamin-made, multi-launch, shuttle giga coaster that was originally slated to open at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 2021. The attraction is planned to utilize the currently-vacant land behind Verbolten, Festhaus Park—the former home of Drachen Fire.

The coaster's main layout—as leaked before the addition was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic—featured two launches, two spikes (one spiral, one vertical-ish), and a couple of banked turns. Drachen Spire was designed to run two trains by means of a pair of switch tracks connecting the primary, shuttle portion of the layout to the station platform.

I was reading through this sequence and creating a little story thread for it in my head.

Then it took a dark turn right around the point where a guy gets kicked in the junk and desperately has to get to a restroom. (Seriously, it's right there after the plus sign.) The safety pin left me anticipating rather... unsettling possibilities for where the narrative was going to go.

I have to ask, as I now have become a bit obsessed: was this just a random assemblage of iconography? Is there a story behind it? What is it? I am in emoji purgatory right now, and would appreciate anything that would help me get out.

Alright, in between planting, weeding and other assorted outdoor activities, I fired up my creative thoughts and, with @Zachary's "hints" singed into my brain... My thought -

You gotta do some imagining...

Wicker Man Alton Tower....except the Wicker Man is a Drachen. You launch into the (fake) forest of trees with the dragon's large head peering out. As you approach going into the mouth of the dragon fireballs explode (they have a surplus of those effects from Howl-o-Scream).....

I do hope this thing has better theming than Griffon. While I appreciate the French architecture, it really doesn’t communicate anything in the way of the story. If it weren’t for the big sign that says “Griffon” you’d have no idea the ride is themed to a mythical creature.

Someone said in the ACE Mid Atlantic virtual meetup last night that the park has "confirmed" that 2021 is on hold with the current situation. While I would say that is a good choice and I am not surprised I can't find any info on the park talking about the project let alone about postponing it. Anyone have any insight?

Maybe that ACE member either actually knows someone and thus said too much, the park is playing a new round of find the leak (hard to believe since they don't really have staff right now), or it's possible that the ACE member is actually a furloughed park staffer (though unlikely one with direct knowledge of planning)?
