It's been done before with coasters like Pioneer at OK Corral in France. ADA obviously plays a big role into why this may have not happened at this point.

The drop track is 100% confirmed and built in a show-building. Most people including the very reputable Alicia Stella of Orlando Park Stop claims it will be very likely themed to devils snare entangling the vehicle and then plummeting down.
What makes that even better is there are 2 separate drop track rooms for capacity purposes, likely meaning there will be some sort of dark ride show going on while the ride is running outside.
My question is whether it's an actual freefall drop track like Vbolt or a controlled drop like Th13teen.

Here is some Merch for HMCMA, thanks to Bioreconstruct on Twitter and also, it looks like from the concept art and from recent looks they are installing the Unicorn towards the end of the ride and it is looking really good since they added water to the lake area. A glimpse also into what looks like when the trains leave the stations some themeing going on as well as the entrance arc is being worked on with scrim and scaffolding around the area. Final pic is from under the archway of the ruins where you launch up and thru. I do believe the drop track is similar to Verbolten and do believe if the stats are right it is a 18ft drop, will double check for you guys. Also lots of testing goin on with the trains now uncovered if you want to check some of the testing go to Midway Mayhem on YouTube he has some great shots of the trains testing especially on the spike part of the ride.

Yes the lake and stream area were made for the ride, Lots more trees are going in and they were testing today. Looks like the Thestrials and stable area is being themed more also. Will get more pics when I get back, I am on my way out to Uni Hollywood for 9 days tomorrow to do the Premiere/Preview nights of THE DARK ARTS show in Wizarding World, which will be at both Uni Hollywood and at Uni Islands of Adventure.
Well slight correction there:
There was a pond that was under almost the entirety of DD, and the pond was more a redesign using the existing plumbing from the previous pint.

Doesn't Wonder Mountain's Guardian have a true drop? I know that was way longer (as in, long enough to have satisfying freefall).
