You can really see the scale of the drop from that last picture. It is so much lower than the treetops. I was imagining being above the trees similar to Grizzly, but the under ground/down grade drop has taken away the overall height of the ride. These pictures are great! They have me really excited about this ride. A hearty 'Thank You' to the staff for taking this tour and providing us with an inside look.

Did anybody ask why they're putting that stupid tunnel at the top of the first drop?

We were actually going to send some follow up questions, including this one.

Does anyone have anything else in particular they they would like us to ask?

Well, I may have a couple questions...

1. What was the reasoning for steel supports over a traditional wooden structure?

2. How was the theme chosen for InvadR?

3. Were there any other themes thought about?

4. Were there any other ride concepts that were looked into that can be revealed?

5. Why was New France chosen to be the home of InvadR?

6. Will InvadR have any food and beverages associated with the ride?

Thanks for the coverage of InvadR today!

Aside from some other questions about its construction thats pretty much all I wanted to ask as well.

Nicole, some questions you or Zachary should be able to answer after the tour.

1. How far along, percentage wise, do you estimate the ride to be at?
2. How does the landscaping themeing look? I know it may be hard to tell with everything being bare right now.
3. Was any official opening date mentioned or a preview date?

Thanks!

Also, I'll answer what questions I can right now...

According to the park, longevity, smoothness, and reduced maintenance costs were the main drivers.

BGW said that they knew they wanted a woodie out of this project. I'm sure that there were different specific designs pitched, but it doesn't sound like any other ride types were strongly considered.

What I have been told a few times now is that New France is one of the few areas of the park that can sustain an addition like this without a lot of infrastructure work (same with the Tempesto site). Also, sorta regarding this question as well, GCI reports that the park told them exactly where they wanted the station building at so the rest of the ride was designed by GCI around that set parameter.

Uhhh, this is a very rough estimate, but... 80% built? There is still a fair amount of trackwork being done in areas where the structure itself appears complete and then there are areas that still have some structure to go up (mainly the final helix and the railroad crossing at the back of the site (looking from the train station). While we were onsite, crews were working on the final helix and it doesn't seem like they can complete the rear-most railroad crossing until everything inside the loop of the coaster is complete as they were using that gap as a construction entrance for the site.

Ignoring all of the viking nonsense, I think it looks really good. The station building presides very nicely over the New France village and being up in the station itself gives some very nice views of the surrounding area as well. As long as they don't let a more cartoony aesthetic creep in as theming progresses (*cough* Tempesto *cough*) or go too overt with the viking crap, I think the area is going to look really nice.

They are being incredibly tight-lipped about opening expectations. Even when pressed, "it will be open sometime in April" is about the best anyone seemed to be able to pull out of them. From what I've heard, GCI themselves is a little more optimistic, but the park is clearly trying to play it very safe.
