So, it seems to me that there are two very distinct conversations being conflated here.

1. The POV, itself.  Specifically the lack of accurate terrain in the video.  (Seriously?  Mountains?)

2. The coaster.  Specifically, what people think they can tell about the ride experience from watching a video game version of the track.

It would probably behoove people to keep the two issues separate, and to be clear about which they are writing.

In regards to the terrain, there is absolutely, for sure, accurate terrain in this POV. The distant scenery is not reflective of this, but if you look closely you will see the google satellite image of the area on the ground. The one exception to this is the way that the coaster interacts with the tunnel. Other than that, the terrain is there.

I would include things like other buildings and Le Scoot, which are clearly not there, sand I believe will be an important aspect of the ride.

The POV has confirmed that this ride is very dull and utterly insignificant at a park known for its significant coasters. Who cares if the ride is supposed to "family friendly"? Busch has proven time and time again that they can do very special things with family friendly rides (Verbolten and BBW specifically). This ride is completely devoid of risk, creativity, or anything that makes it special. It's just a small wooden coaster that looks like it will be okay. Should we be disappointed with that? Yes we should. Absolutely. Especially after we got the clone-coaster Tempesto.

So no. I don't think we're having two conversations. I think what people are trying to say is what I said up top: the POV confirms that this ride lacks any significant or unique character - elements that fans of BGW have come to expect from ANY coaster addition.

I 100% agree. As I said earlier the actual elements of the coaster look dull and have no risk. The turn around in the middle could of been used with some unique height dislplacement but it does not. I want to say the layout could be amazing in person like if we were to see Apollo's blue print vs the actual translation, but this coaster lacks the height of a great coaster to help out its rather boring layout.

How are the lack of accurate terrain in the POV vs the layout of the actual coaster not two different conversations?

Actually, I brought up the terrain issue, and I know whether I am frustrated by the layout or not. I wanted to see how it interacts with the area. Please do not tell me what I meant and what I think and feel.

I am curious, and 100% not interested in drawing conclusions about something I haven't ridden.

The only thing I feel is disappointment that the POV did not show me how InvadR will interact with Le Scoot and rest of its surroundings. I am not attempting to judge how it will be, once it is built.

I honestly don't see a point in diminishing excitement for the coaster by making a complete judgement about it before the first footers have been poured. Watching a new ride being built is one of the greatest aspects to being a theme park enthusiast in my opinion, and is something we only get to experience but so rarely. I personally feel that if I jump to a conclusion about the ride layout, theme, etc. before I get to fully experience all of it, it ruins that enjoyment. Maybe it doesn't for others, but it does for me. And with the park's fresh, new marketing strategy, I would especially not want to do that with this project in particular.

I'm calling it now. I don't think this is the final layout. It's missing some things that seem to be signature for GCI lately. I fully expect to have a couple of polls soon. "Should we add a 90 degree banked turn here? You decide!"

What I can safely say is that, in my opinion, the layout currently being advertised as InvadR is one of the least interesting woodie layouts unveiled in the last 10 years. I honestly think it looks like something out of CCI in the 90s.

GCI builds the most boring woodies in the industry right now (sorry, but it is true) and this is even boring and bland for GCI. I pray to god this isn't representative of the final product.

The POV shows what I think will be a pleasant ride with a few good moments. Far from something that would hold a candle to any of KD's woodies though. With "new Hurler" coming to KD in 2017, I worry InvadR will be the 2nd best woodie to open in VA in 2017. :-/

Maybe we should all just boycott Busch until they give us a proper B&M Wing Coaster.

I know we have high standards, and that the days of Apollo's Chariot coaster quality have left us, but a few things to consider before we get too far ahead...

Regardless of what we as enthusiasts think, I believe this ride will:
1.) Boost attendance by virtue of this being advertised as a wooden family coaster
2.) Underwhelm those who benchmark InvadR to King's Dominion's wooden collection 71.8 miles away
3.) Have some great theming elements that are STILL not finalized
4.) Be affected by LeScoot in ways we have not fully imagined
5.) Divide forum members well past opening day

I love you guys, I love this forum, but let's try to get a grip here. I see InvadR as a mixed-bag, but a wooden-bag nonetheless, and I applaud Busch for finally rounding the gamut of what makes a great theme park, and that's having a good balance of steel intensity (AC, Alpie, Griffon) and now a wooden family choice.

This will pay off for Busch long-term, and I hope it will precede a larger, more intense woodie years later if this proves successful. Keep in mind, someone did their research, and I think InvadR is a guinea pig for future wooden coaster development. There are criteria InvadR had to meet for Busch to even accept it: Smoothness, relative quietness, and reliability - which many parks who have installed wooden coasters of a larger caliber regret years later (Mean Streak/Son of Beast for example).

It's not as exciting and inventive as we all hoped, and I pray it's not an exercise in mediocrity, which we as devotees of the park despise and become so incensed over, yet I believe its a good leap forward for the park. Good is not great, great is not amazing, but it's progress that we have rarely seen.

And yes, I hate the name. D-:

If BGW's main demographic is family types then it reasons that they'd build a ride that appeals to that crowd. But like mtpelepele said, perhaps there will be new elements thrown in that will be noted upon later. Or perhaps this is just a red herring and the "real Invadr" will be announced and we'll all be like "OH TWIST!" and so there.

Maybe.

Oh my god. Seriously? Nicole. I'm not trying to be rude, but how this coaster interacts with Le Scoot or the moderately graded terrain in this area will almost assuredly not help InvadR transcend mediocrity into a world class coaster. You may have brought up terrain, sure, but it frankly feels more like grasping at straws than any real analysis. I am 100% interested in coming to conclusions with the information presented to me. Griffon looked incredible when the POV was released. The same goes for other world class coasters like KingDa Ka, Maverick, and Montu. To dismiss a POV as something you can't draw conclusions from is... an interesting position imo.

The POV confirms that there are no over banks, unique elements, significant altitude changes after the first drop, or literally anything to make this coaster something worth talking about. The things you say are missing, like interaction with Le Scoot, will not be this coaster's selling point. And, if it is, how sad.
