RE: Project 2017

To be fair to BGW, Intamin was still actively screwing over the park on Pompeii as recently as a couple years ago. This wasn't a one-time mistake. Intamin has really not done right by Busch Gardens Williamsburg. If I were in Larry's shoes, even ignoring Intamin's missteps with other parks recently, I'd never sign a contract with them again either.

Hey Zachary, can you elaborate on the whole "screwing over the park on Pompeii" thing? I don't know the whole story.

RE: Project 2017

Perhaps that is a discussion for the Pompeii Thread? Also, someone asked if anyone still built Mine Trains a couple pages back. Not that I think Project 2017 will be a mine train. But I stumbled on a page at S&S Sansei, one of the iterations of the company that absorbed Arrow Dynamics and they have a "New" mine train that they are selling and even calling an "Arrow Mine Train."

On the topic of spinners and who does them, let's not forget the second manufacturer Busch may have on their options plate - Maurer Sohne. They just did Laff Trakk at HersheyPark which has been very well-received. Just as BGT went with Intamin for Cheetah Hunt in 2011 and BGW went with Zierer for Verbolten, they are very similar in theory, but execution varies by manufacturer.

A bit of AM insight for the thoughtful minds among us :)

RE: Project 2017

Tick Tock Tick Tock... Uh oh. It appears interest is spinning close to the cliff. JK I really do hope this works out as a solid investment whatever it is. There is certainly cause for concern after the price of Verbolten, and Tempesto as a whole.

Did Intamin like sleep with Larry Giles wife or something?

Bahahahaha! You'd think so! No, they designed and built Pompeii, from my understanding it was delivered late, and they had to go back and redesign the boats because the boats slash area went all the way to the train tracks. Lastly, apparently its a reliability nightmare.

Hahaha. That makes a lot of sense, thanks.

I feel like a werewolf/Wendigo theme would fit the area & ride nicely (Conveniently, Wendigo Woods is/was in New France).

I was thinking about something similar. Loup Garou is another name for werewolf from French Canadian folklore, but Cedar Point already has Rougarou. If the coaster has inversions it could be called Loop Garou.

Afraid Loop Garou is already a wooden coaster in Belgium.

The Beast of Gevaudan. Doesn't have to be that name precisely, but something that derives within the history of "The beast" would be pretty cool.

RE: Project 2017

I'm sure this is of no consequence, but in reviewing the plans for Cobra's Curse, it is interesting to note that Busch gave the exact same "Building 10" designation that our 2017 plans show, with an adjoining "Existing Building" where our plans have the"Proposed Building" label. The same "Building 10" designation, unless some kind of code, I see as a fair indication of what we are getting if CC's plans indicate similar terminologies referring to the station/brake areas.

Thoughts?

RE: Project 2017

So BGW posted a picture of someone working on LeScoot and suggested it was related to The Flying Canoe. How sure are we that the coaster will not interact with LeScoot?

RE: Project 2017

I can't help but wonder if any Le Scoot track segments will be shifted a few inches or feet. That said, I thought last year would be the final phase for the trough itself. Then I saw that some elements looked relatively untouched, and there were several more trough pieces lying around.

Most of them appeared to be curved. Last year I only remember straight pieces. That would make sense, because many of the turns were noticeably bent and less painted.

The refurbishments of Le Scoot alone seem strange enough to make me feel curious. At first, I thought that Le Scoot would add a new drop and two show buildings as part of the theming enhancements mentioned earlier. Of course that seems less likely now. However, I have a feeling that this new attraction will complement it immensely.

RE: Project 2017

even though the plans clearly show that nothing on le scoot is being modified for the coaster? :irritated2:
