RE: Project 2017

Hey all! New Member, First Post here. After reviewing the Pdf plans and looking at the thorough piecing together of those plans by this website, all signs point towards a spinner. I am a bit let down by this (not confirmed yet I know), but at the same time I do think a spinner would fit rather well in this location. This coaster will be nestled (foot traffic wise)between what are two rather intense looping coasters and should serve a unique/proper experience in a hamlet in need of something new. Having said that, my "approval" (assuming it's relevant) depends on the pricetag of this attraction. I personally don't think at its best, a spinner is worth a cost of more than 10 million. Cobra's Curse' pricetag has not yet been revealed and may never be. A rather lazy bit of researching on my part into the price of only one other spinner than cobra's Curse, also did not land me a idea of the price range of these coasters. Anyways those are my thoughts. Was really excited when the prospect of location for this was San Marco, as the potential of coaster design of that area/terrain is infinite. But I guess it gives us something to look forward to in the future after yet again, what seems will be a "meh" attraction at my favorite park.

Can anyone think of any other type that it might be other than a spinner, flyer, or woodie? This is assuming that 1.the park would have a reason to build it (it adds something new, bridges the height gap, etc). You can assume that it will not be over 150ft above grade, being that close to KM, line of sight is a huge issue. KM always raises hell at new coasters and the proximity of this one almost guarantees that they won't build it looming over the resort.

This brings me to the second point. Perhaps this is the reason to announce all of this so early. Here in Orlando you may have heard of the Skyplex coaster that they are building. Recently, they hit opposition from numerous sources while attempting to get the permits through. It did end up getting approved but only after a great number of citizen lobbied for it against the corporations and nay-sayers. Perhaps the announcement is designed to drum up support for the project prior to the height waiver.

Lastly there could be a ride going in under 60ft, esp a spinner( I'm working on the concept next). I still need to check the viability with the layout though with the flume being in the area.

Edit: I noticed I didn't make it clear, and I should, that I don't think that Busch will install a woodie but it is, in the most basic sense, possible.

Thoughts?

Strikewinder was registered as a trademark last year for a ride. Kinda early for them to register a trademark for a new ride, but it's possible that may be the name.

There are venomous snakes in Canada...

RE: Project 2017

I would prefer Pusheen over the "The Flying Canoe" or maybe even a lumberjack holding a bottle of syrup.

RE: Project 2017

I have a good feeling this is going to be similar to Cobra's Curse, because BGW could use another family coaster (and a MACK). That reminds me, I'm going to blow off the cobwebs of that forgotten section...

RE: Project 2017

I've got new news here: One 55ft lift is definitely not sufficient for the layout.

In order to clear the tracks every time the layout crosses, the coaster will need at least two 55ft lifts or one lift that is about 80 feet. I have determined that a 60 foot lift is sufficient for clearing the log flume with the "Unagi" layout. It would be a rather shallow lift with a not very steep drop, but it is feasible.

Pandemonium is a Gerstlauer spinning coaster at multiple six flags. It has a very short layout at 1,351 feet and a 6.5 million price tag. Welcome to the forum!

I recently discovered that the Irish Gaelic word for kitten is Puisín which is pronounced "Pusheen".

Additionally, and I don't want to embarrass myself here, may I ask what a Spinner is exactly? I mean obviously it's a coaster but what makes it a spinner and why are we against this? Or for it as the case may be... As to whether this will be a "family coaster" or not, I would think Busch would want a coaster that draws thrill-seekers, right? Isn't Busch known for its great coasters? So why have a repeat of Tempesto and install another mediocre ride?

For the record I am in support of the Pusheen/maple syrup theme.

Fall asleep for the night and all Hell breaks lose. Gotta love the wave of new members who join when plans are released. A very...entergetic groups of fellas to say the least.

Anyway, for the sake of staying relevant; Spinner it is, and I have no beef with that.

So, what you are saying, is that if layout is correct, and height is 60 ft, it has to be a launch coaster.

I strongly doubt it is a launched coaster. What I mean by this are two things, niether of which are huge revelations, but that help narrow down possibilities:

1. There will be two lifts that are under 60ft

2.The attraction will stand at >60ft

A launch coaster is still possible but very unlikely. There is the slight chance that there will an elevator lift mid course, but I don't find that to be realistic.

While I'm at it let me squash this launch coaster rumor, or at least shed some doubt. In order for a launch to work, it would have to be something like the incredible hulk's launch. The track NEEDS to go under the flume first, then angle up to pass over the other side of the flume and the railroad. All of this is happening over the queue too. The current layout just wouldn't diversify busch's collection much as a launch coaster.

My current opinion is that the layout of this coaster is TOO LARGE to be a spinning coaster. The turns, while not very large, aren't as tight as the typical spinning coaster.

Note that my concept includes 1 "drop". This is almost certainly reading way too far into it, but in the video they mention "the drop". Like I said, I'm probably reading into it too much.

It's not about the clearance over the train as much as it is momentum from a lift under 60ft is not enough to get the ride through the complete layout.
