RE: Project 2017

Any chance the rumor I heard is true? Parts, pieces, and trains all being recycled from Tampa?

Okie Doke folks, here's what I came up with in glorious 1080p 60fps:

Obviously I can't guarantee accuracy, but it's pretty darn close.
Max drop: 74ft
Max Speed: 48mph
Mex Height: 57ft
Duration: 1:34
Length:2179ft

Nice work It's very slick

I highly doubt that for woods parts are always recycled for other projects very quickly [Cabins, Barns.. etc] and why would anyone go through the hassle of remolding train cars for a new ride with a different theme and setup.

Honestly, it looks like a ton of fun. I love all the little ejector air time hills.

Looks good. I think it's very interesting, maybe some time of element before the lift and another element before the main drop. Feels like there's a few too many "dead moments" in the run with some flat spots. I'm not saying anything crazy with inversions, but just a small drop and back up.

RE: Project 2017

I don't see a big drop coming before the lift. The biggest reason is length. may layout as is is 50ft too long. Much of that could be due to a slight difference in scale, any more drops would add a decent length to the track

Bottom line - there's no evidence anywhere on the internet that the word "invadr" exists in any Viking context whatsoever.

No evidence on the internet? Oh wait. Did the vikings have internet in the 11th century? No.

Take a historical language or an old history class, the internet or google translate might give you a current 21st century translation, but it doesn't devolve into each decade/century's communication patterns or language differentiation.

Please tell me, jornor, that "that guy has to prove a negative" is not actually your stance on the unmistakable, deliberate, stylized misspelling of a word that is actually documented to exist.

For lack of a sarcastic "Yeah, Thanks for That" button in this forum: I will never forget the day I got into my time machine and discovered that "Verbolten" was once a valid conjugation of a real word in low German that was sadly lost to time and the Internet... thereby invalidating the argument of the person who had the sensible temerity to call out "Verbolten" as not an actual German word with any record of existing before 2012.  I really stuck it to that guy!

Wait, what? Extremely confused by your 2nd paragraph.

I'm not trying to "prove a negative" or anything, I was only trying to point out the Internet doesn't do as great a job dealing with historical language accuracy as a class or spending time learning about the subject in school or so. I was just throwing in my two cents, I don't know who's right in this situation, it could very well be just a purposeful misspelling.

I just have never seen Busch do anything like that, that's why I've been thrown off I guess.

Great work Fur Dozy!

And now I'm gonna be a pessimist... That ride looks totally unremarkable. It's a woodie that I'd expect to see in the late 90's or the early 2000's. Goldrusher at CGA is a very recent GCI woodie regarded to be pretty good that... isn't. It's fine. It's okay. This ride has a pretty dull layout, no unique elements (so far at least), and a short duration. I get that Busch definitely needs a woodie and it's cool that they're getting one, I just wanted it to be "special". Anyways... Color me pretty unenthused about this ride. Until we learn something about it that's unique or crazy, this ride is just "fine".

They never tease stuff this early so I think there's much more to be revealed...Maybe I'm way off. But as for it being "special" it is going to interact with Le Scoot in possibly more ways than one which is insanely cool to begin with. Also, there should be a few surprises between now and 12-however many months away from now when the coaster is finally finished and all is said and done.

RE: Project 2017

I think what we are seeing from the park is them making up for not building less intense coasters in between building all those B&M giants they have now. So now you seem them focusing on that side with Verbolten, Tempesto, and now this coaster.

RE: Project 2017

I'm actually pretty satisfied with this project. Didn't expect much until the park threw out "new wooden coaster". A wooden coaster is pretty much the only real ride the park needs to balance out the selection between rides that invert and rides that don't.

The park also needs another ride that the 42-48 inch crowd can ride. After BBW left, that void is still there. If Busch can get this ride to that magic 42 inch mark, that void will finally be filled. Granted Bolt was the family coaster to fill Wolf's shoes, their height restriction is still 48 inches.

The enthusiast world is in love with smaller woodies. Switchback, White Lightning, Roar-A-Saurus, and Wooden Warrior have pretty much gotten rave reviews and those rides aren't very big at all. This ride is a few feet shy of Rebel Yell's height so I can def see GCI packing some punch in this.

The new coaster will hopefully help balance the crowds out between the Oktoberfest/Italy side (which has gotten the brunt of the new additions as of late) and the quieter sections on the France/Ireland side.

That being said.
The names still suck. Viking Raider is kinda generic. Battle Clash would be better without the whole Mortal Kombat K thing going on, and Invadr without the E sounds like they're trying to appeal to the whole internet crowd. BGW could do so much better with the names.

Not the first time.  Take a look at Verbolten.  "Verboten" is a real German word, meaning "forbidden".  "Verbolten" is a half-assed attempt at an English word play on a German word, that means precisely nothing.  Most English speakers don't know it's a play on words, most German speakers think we just can't spell. Invadr is another attempt at this, just in reverse.  "Let's take an English word, and make it sound Norse-ish!"  Who knows, maybe leaving out the E makes it more xtreme.

RE: Project 2017

Totally understand the need for a 42" ride. Totally don't understand the need for Tempesto haha

All I'm saying is that each of their coasters does something unique. Griffon is a dive coaster (which used to be super rare). Alpie is a super tall, massive invert. LNM has interlocking loops. Verbolten has a drop track. Apollo's is world class. This woodie is just... I dunno guys. It feels very "any medium-sized park" to me. Interaction with Le Scoot? Um. Cool. Like going over it or under it? Meh. Sigh. We shall see, but I'm depressed after seeing Fur Dozy's mockup (WHICH WAS REALLY WELL DONE GOOD JOB).

As for the name Verbolten? I kind of love.

Okay guys. Put me on the stake. Set me on fire.

For me, the jury is still out. I've ridden extremely tall, fast, long wooden coasters that just sucked. Heck, SOB even had a loop! Didn't make it good. GCI is building some very, very good mid-sized woodies. I'll take a very good mid-size over a massive pile of crap any day.

I'd have to agree with this. I really like the name. "Invadr", as has been mentioned, sounds like it's trying to be edgy, not trying to sound archaic.

I'm still going to write in Silver Strike.
