RE: Project 2014/2015?

A ferris wheel would take up too much of a footprint for anywhere in the park. KD can get away with it, but BGW would have to destroy a lot to do it.

What they could do to make it unique, they could have it coming out of Castle O'Sullivan. Remove the dining with Elmo, get rid of part of the roof, and add some theming. It would be cool to do the first half of the ride inside the building and the last half outside with a cool view of Killarney. (And a fabulous view of metal roofs :p) Then trees would not be removed, Killarney would have another attraction, and COS would finally have a good use. :)

People all complain that Killarney has lost the magical charm it started out with, putting a big ride sprouting out of that castle will really kill the vibe. That would look even worse than kk.

I disagree. If they could dig down, so maybe just the upper 3rd of the wheel were showing, and theme it properly, I think they could do something really cool with that!

Isn't the purpose of a ferris wheel to see the view?

With a third sticking out, it could still be 30 feet above the castle. in the inside, they could theme it to see different "floors" of the castle, with some animatronics, actors or both in different scenes. and then go down into the dragon dungeon. I think a unique thing to do, load from the 7 or 8 o'clock position, so you are not loading in the dungeon.

Edit: I will work on a drawing this weekend of what I am talking about. I am thinking it would be better to laod from 9 o'clock, we'll see

If its a flat ride, maybe they could put something like The Crypt there. It's a pretty good themed ride for KD, so imagine what BG could do

If it were a top spin, they should add this!

Obviously they would do different theming to make it European and the space that has been marked probably won't be big enough for this. If Busch were to add a top spin though, it should be something like this!

Now that thing is cool! Makes me think of Pompeii for some reason. Does something like this give folks whiplash? Geesh!!

RE: Project 2014/2015?

I don't think they will be adding a resort in 2014, too close to Dollywood's, not in 2015, that would be too much stimulation in the amusement biz to have two resorts opening in major parks in the same year, and not in 2016, Dollywood's would still be a major addition. I could see it in 2017/2018, but really, until they get out of this financial rut, they are at a stand still with the resort. :)

That's a sweet top spin! BG could make that work

RE: Project 2014/2015?

Hey, Guys..........Im a newbie obviously. But, I am from Richmond and I have reason to believe that both KD and BGW are going to have MAJOR attractions by the '15 season. There is a huge cycling tournament coming in Sept'15 (2015 UCI World Cycling Championships) Which should bring this area the biggest tourist impact that the area has ever seen. The championships will be advertised to about 3 billion people world wide. Its also the first time this particular Championship has been in the United States since the 70's. Expected economic impact is over $150 million. Kings Dominion has already been announced as a key sponsor. Just something to chew on!!

RE: Project 2014/2015?

Keep in mind that after that expansion, Carowinds is probably not going to add much really big new things within three or five years.

Also, you have to remember Busch Gardens was never supposed to make money. Policies and logistics were not setup to make money. The park is going through growing pains of having to make money and stay afloat while investing. The growing pains are actually extremely painful and can take some time.

Then you have management. Parks manage themselves. Blackstone/Corporate have no hand in planning the details for the parks. They do give absolute final approval, control budgets, etc. But park executives make most of the calls on what goes on in the park.
