RE: Project 2014/2015?

Getting this thread back on topic, just because the height test was at a hundred feet, doesn't mean that it has to be a flat ride that's that tall. It could be more of a 40 or 50 foot flat ride with some kind of tall theming.

RE: Project 2014/2015?

Do they have any tall flat rides they have taken down?
Arent wild mousses pretty cheap? I doubt they would build one but it is a possibility.

Like I said before they might be looking for the best location for the next coaster so they can design it to the land.

RE: Project 2014/2015?

They had a Wild Mouse there a couple of years ago, where DarKastle is now. I don't think they would put one back in.

RE: Project 2014/2015?

Theirs lots of room, even if Pompeii stayed. Zachary had a diagram showing another coaster either to the left or behind Pompeii

RE: Project 2014/2015?

You could easy jam a small coaster between DaVinci's Garden and Pompeii, just you'd have no trees hiding the evil that is Pompeii from the rest of Italy.

What's so evil about it? Do you mean the back of the show building?

RE: Project 2014/2015?

I don't think that a new coaster for next year is a completely unrealistic idea. I honestly don't think that the park is that bad financially. What makes me think that is the fact that before darkastle got its preshow back and the "fire", i asked a ride attendant about the fire, they said that it was not being run due to it costing too much to run. I know that that may be just a small little detail in such a huge park, but if they didn't use the "fire" effect in darkastle at one time due to budget cuts, I would think that that would be the first thing that they would cut off.

From what I am hearing about this now, I still think that it will be another coaster. The land plot is right near the Rhine (if the balloon was between EFP and the garden of innovations), and what major rides has the park put that are right near the Rhine that isn't a coaster (beside Mäch Tower)?

To me, I could see a b&m 4d coaster there. With that height being not too tall, but still not way to short, it would be perfect for one.

RE: Project 2014/2015?

First, you got information from a ground level team member who *typically* doesn't know the right information or gives a scripted answer.

Second, they closed an entire simulator prematurely with no explanation. If that doesn't scream financial issues then I don't know what.

All I am saying in the park has had a financial struggle since the sale to Blackstone because they went from spending copious amounts of money to improve the entire park in general to having to cut costs wherever they can to create not just a profit but the largest possible profit.

My train of thought is they possibly shut off the one effect to help save money, things got better they turned it back on, then things got a whole crap of a lot worse and they shut down an entire ride prematurely and for an extended amount of time, mark that indefinitely.

Honestly, I think this project was a last minute plan to help increase attendance in the next year or two to raise money. I think they are planning on getting a cheap rather large or large-ish flat ride to market to the GP as a brand new attraction and of course everyone will flock to it.

EDIT: I am not saying it is not likely; I am saying it just isn't happening.

RE: Project 2014/2015?

Yeah this isn't a coaster people. Plain and simple. There is something out there coming but not a coaster.

Lets also remember all we have right now supporting this entire thread is a balloon floating in the air on Friday. Don't think is going to be anything huge at all.

RE: Project 2014/2015?

I highly doubt an extra charge attraction. I mean, the whole idea of annual passes and admission tickets is to attract people in the park. One price, get it all.

But if the park is extremely desperate, desperate times call for desperate measures.

RE: Project 2014/2015?

To play Devils Advocate, people do pay for Xtreme Skyflyer at KD, and isn't there a fair crossover in the customer base between the two parks? Additionally, Busch Gardens already has several "experiences" and "amenities" that cost extra.

But those "experiences" and "amenities" are just that. They aren't full attractions or rides.

RE: Project 2014/2015?

Exactly Nic... The park already knows people are willing to pay money for things like coaster tours, Christmas Town and Beer and Wine Festival. Is the next thing upcharges for new rides and concerts?

PR: Don't disagree. As I said, I am just playing Devils Advocate. (As the daughter of an attorney, I can't help myself.) That said, given how many upcharges I rationalize myself into paying every time I visit a BG or SW park, I'm not sure it is a huge leap from Quick Queues and Behind the Scenes Tours, to paying for Skyflier (which I have also done).
