RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I would love to have this coaster, the only bad thing is that it is a clone that would not be anything special. I know Griffon was a clone, but griffon has an extra loop. It would be a great addition, but I don't know if they'd make a clone.
It was the first dive machine of its kind built...

Well, it is similar to Sheikra. That is what I meant by clone.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

There is a difference between a similar design and a clone. Sheikra and Griffon have many notable differences. Just because Grizzly at KD is modeled after Coney Island's Wildcat doesn't mean it's a clone of the ride.

Anyway...

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I was at the park this past Saturday and one of the attendants told a crowd of people waiting to be allowed into Oktoberfest that they need to come back in 2015 because "there is going to be a new coaster in Festa Italia." Not sure this is actual confirmation about it. Guess we'll need to wait until we see those "hint-hint" commercials from Carl and Larry.

Take anything that an employee says with a huge grain of salt. Management doesn't tell them anything, so they know exactly what we know.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I actually heard the same thing from a guy I know in Upper chain. He said being a coaster wasn't much of a secret, he just couldn't go any deeper than that.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I am still intrigued by the idea of the Premier Rides coaster concept I pitched, but yes, be mindful of comments of that ilk from employees. I still remember the time I was told by an AC attendant that what eventually became Griffon was supposed to be a Flying Coaster near Oktoberfest...-_-

Good god please don't let it be this. I'd rather have EITA 2 in that spot.

I'd rather not have this, but it definitely beats all of the other ideas I've heard.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Would the park really build a "replica" of another park's ride? I thought they prefer to introduce one of a kind attractions?

The information we have received shows that we will be getting a replica of Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom built by Premier Rides.

I miss the old Busch Gardens :'( looks like I'll be purchasing my first Kings Dominion pass

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Serious question, though you can hammer my ignorance all you like! lol -- but what would be so bad about a S:UF clone? The fact of it being a clone, especially a clone of a Six Flags product already cloned a few times, or a consensus that flying coasters are lame, or something else entirely?

(Cause a flying coaster kinda looks like fun to me.)

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I see no reason to duplicate another parks shuttle coaster. Shuttles are probably the easiest type coaster to put a unique twist into. If the coaster is customized instead of being a clone, I feel like it will more likely be accepted and enjoyed by everybody. Location, location, location! This is what will do it for me. If they plop this thing down in the middle of Festa, it could very easily be a disaster. If it is strategically placed among some trees and a slope or two, with a couple of unique elements to it, I will look forward to its existence. As far as the low capacity of a shuttle coaster goes, they could build the worlds first 'dueling' shuttle coaster for all we know and there would be added capacity, uniqueness, and maybe a little bit of excitement along with re-ride ability. The only point I'm making here is that 'this COULD still be made good' and we should be putting out some ideas here that are constructive to the design of this thing 'BEFORE' it's built. Before it's too late. Good Morning :)

There have been a couple of dueling shuttle coasters built: Lightining Loops, and Batman and Robin: The Chiller (Oddly enough, both at the same park, and one of which was a Premier ride!) Both were still horrible capacity. Premier has also tried using a sliding station for their shuttle coasters, such as the Mr. Freeze clones. Still quite low capacity.
