Again. Why would a park with so many financial troubles spring for a coaster as soon as they get the money for it? The smart thing would be to save it.

From what I have heard, and this is only hear say, the coaster cost the park very little if anything at all because of all the problems with Mach Tower, the company was gonna have to pay back Seaworld  Group but they settled on this new coaster anyone know of this is true or not?

This is an often repeated rumor that has little or no actual proof.  Yes, there was a lawsuit regarding the tower and it was settled out of court.  Because it was settled out of court the numbers are not in the public domain.  So far as I know those are the only known facts and everything else is pure speculation.

Is it possible that they got 8m, 10m, or 15m (the numbers I recall being thrown around) from the suite and that was how much they spent?  Sure, but it is also possible that alien teddy bears are on a collision course with Earth as we speak.

The idea that they won a settlement from a law suite and therefore spent the money on a coaster is, at best a "Post Hoc" argument and therefore a logical fallacy, at worse it is just more truthiness being passed along as fact.

Interesting, I've never heard that. If it is true it makes more sense as to why Carl sprang for a low budget coaster.

Perhaps because SEAS is broke, BGW in particular is over extended and this was all the could afford? Further Carl and company have truly terrible decision making skills and can's run a park?

I'm not advocating that it was good or smart, but rather wondering about the reasons the decision was made.

I'm suspending my sabbatical from the site to say one thing. This ride terrifies me. I hate being blasted backwards - nothing on this earth makes less sense than being blasted backwards. That aside it is a fantastic addition to the park.

I'm terrified of riding it again, but it's fantastic. Confused? So am I.

Zimmy is pretty much right on point. I've tried to hint at this for a while but from my understanding Moser gave SEAS a complete refund for Mach Tower to avoid a lawsuite. I and some others have speculated that they used that money to buy Tempesto sense it was already earmarked for a ride but it's totally speculation.

I agree Nicole. If they had extra money from a settlement, it should have immediately been put into the zoology department, instead of the pasta flat. I rode again yesterday in the back seat and was shocked how boring it was back there. The front seat has ejector air after the third launch, and good visuals, which makes the ride fun for me. I've been on more exciting hay rides as far as the back seat goes.

is it tearing away or just the opening for the real nylon belt underneath, the outside is rubber for comfort not suport

It appeared to be tearing, but that could possibly be what it was. When I noticed it, it was right befor the train took off so I didn't get to look as closely as I wanted.

Well it looks like Tempesto is touring his new look....

I think the name "Dare Devil Chaos Coaster" better suits Tempesto too.

I am not sure Carl has any say so what so ever about the new rides they put in the park I would think it comes from the higher ups in Seaworld Ent. group. So I think he gets all his directions from higher up.

We rode Carolina Cobra today.  Tony and I agreed it was better then Tempesto.

Caro's Vekoma Boomerang is actually really great. I think its the best Boomerang I've ever ridden. Those trains are really comfortable.

Do you have any real evidence of this or is it just your opinion? If the president of the park doesn't make decisions about what is good for his park, seems like there would be no purpose to his job.
No real evidence but it takes a board to approve these things not one person.Carl dont have that much say so in how the park s run if he did he could have over road some of the dumb mistakes Scott made.

That ride should have never gone to Carowinds, however. Now the park it was transplanted from will finally shut it's doors at the end of this season I feel.

Rode it this past weekend, didn't like it at all.  Tempesto is definitely better than that, I was glad there was no wait for it.

I will be riding Tempesto in two weeks and can't wait to form my own opinion. I do know that I will like it better than Carolina Cobra because I hated that ride when it was at Geauga Lake as Mind Eraser. Never liked being pulled up the chain lift backwards to start the ride, I guess I'll try being shot backwards instead. I had thought of skipping Tempesto because the POV looks intense and I thought it might make me sick, but I haven't heard anyone mentioning feeling sick afterwards. Anyone get a headache from riding Tempesto?
