RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I was just at the park yesterday and took a closer look at the area and still can't grasp the concept of WHY they even thought of cramming a coaster in that space, even if it is a small compact one.

I'm still not a fan of the Oktoberfest renovations and can only imagine what they'll do to this area after seeing the concept art for the coaster. Hopefully, it'll be more than posters and won't use huge butterflies and streamers as an excuse for theming like Oktoberfest.

If this coaster is in fact 'bike' themed, how could they not get one of these trains made by Premier?

On another note BGW passed up the opportunity for a 4D coaster by S&S which is similar to Intamin's Zacspin and only $7 million. It is almost the same size footprint wise as the Premier coaster BGW will get and will be just as easy to install. Not to mention S&S projects the capacity near 800 riders per hour and not made by Intamin

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

The Free Spin prototype was officially announced in November. BGW's project was first leaked last October (I'm sure it's been in the pipeline since long before then). The park couldn't order one even if they really wanted it unless S&S released the concept to parks before the announcement.

Plus S&S hasn't had a solid track record for most of their prototypes either. Hypersonic was a complete bust, Ring Racer never opened, and the three launchers in China had their fair share of problems. I know they built a prototype coaster in Europe that worked really well, but that's about it in terms of their recent projects.

Having seen footage of the free spin prototype, I think it's promising but nowhere near ready for sale. There's a TON of testing left to do, and the park wants a coaster now-ish. I don't love this choice, but the S&S most likely wasn't very seriously on the table

It's only like a 15 second circuit, it won't make a huge difference.

Not really. It has to take more than one ride cycle to get everybody loaded, so why not spend that extra time doing another lap.
