RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

The track colors are what scare me the most. I'm afraid those two colors won't do a good job at blending in together....

I love that you said this. Having just had my first Six Flags park experience, I can finally say for certain that 99% of the changes BGW makes are not a descent into Six Flags quality, even when they're not for the better. Six Flags was so horrible that there is rarely a reason people could correctly say BGW is turning into Six Flags. But this may be one of those times. Looking at those plans, everything seems to be exactly on par with what Six Flags would do for a new coaster. Honestly, I knew BGW was going to be in bad shape over the next few years but I never would have expected something like this.

I think right now the appropriate nickname for the park would be "Paramount's Busch Gardens." :p

Joe, I'd like to point out that you went to Six Flags America, which is certainly not on the standards of other Six Flags owned parks. Great Adventure and Magic Mountain are two that come to mind.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

With this attraction coming to Festa Italia, I am curious about how extensive the renovations to the hamlet will be. It just seems like a hodge-podge of rides that have been thrown together into an area, and forced to somewhat correlate with one another. It has been said before, and I shall say it again...this is the hamlet that I think suffers the most with thematic elements. One thing that I have always loved about this park, is that the attractions are complimentary to the country that they are representing. However, looking at Festa.....we now have this ride that looks as if Crayola exploded all over it! Roman Rapids and Apollo's chariot, which are "Roman/Italian"; Tradewinds, Elephant Run, and Turkish Delight..which...are supposed to be associated with the Marco Polo theme(?). Personally, I would have liked the money spent on this ride, to have been used into reviving this hamlet into something congruent. As others have stated, there are other areas in the park that this ride could have been placed, and been a better fit.

I just want to say that I'm excited to see how this turns out. I know it seems as if BG is now on par with the local fairgrounds in building this, but I can't help but be a little excited. I'm 27, I've been going to the park since I was 4 and in no way am I condoning this strange "decline" of late. I am simply stating that I am on the minority here that has some hope for this, all negativity aside, and I'm glad to be a part of a forum of people who care so much for the future of the park and thus have voiced concerns so clearly. I hope to be coming to BG for decades to come, it just seems like with all things, this is a phase in the park's history unlike anything we have seen before, which is puzzling, but ultimately (hopefully) temporary.

PS: I pray someone at corporate hasn't forgotten a company called B&M in Monthey, Switzerland. They do launched things too.

Blending in how? Are we talking the skyline, or looking up from inside Festa? Be a bit more specific, because the colors they chose for the track, are complementary colors. Meaning they're gonna stand out against each other. Much like Apollo's track does when it's freshly painted.

I saw themeing like this before! In Coney Island... Wait I think Coney Island does it better, even though Thunderbolt is garbage.

The colors remind me a lot of Goliath at Six Flags over Georgia, which isn't a bad looking coaster. What it'll look like on this is something I can judge when I see it myself.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really love the theme of this ride and its signage. Apollo really belongs in San Marco, where it would actually match the theme. I think Diavolo ( I actually like that name) will fit in perfectly with Festa's carnival theme. I have never really disliked the theming in Festa Italia. The only real problem I have with it is the huge basketball game, which I hate with a burning passion. Anyway, I find it strange that the park could come up with a theme for the ride to fit Festa, but not a theme for LR to fit Banbury.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Alright I guess its time for my official thoughts.

I like most of the signage. It looks fun and colorful. The theming concept isn't bad either.

But those facades on the buildings look terrible. Its like the park wanted to go for a carnival theme, took a bunch of random concepts, and mashed them all together into one.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Well, everyone is entitled to their thoughts and opinions...but, I do not find this attraction, it's signage, color scheme...in any way complimentary to the hamlet or other attractions surrounding it. First off, the entire concept is threadbare in any sort of connection to the theme. If this area is going to represent a carnival/festival...then let's make the entire area congruent to that. The bicycle/stunt theme...I still am not entirely understanding that. If you look at the other coasters in the park...they still contain some sort of "Old World" feel to them....I get nothing of that feeling from this ride. If they were inspired by the 1900's stunt performer...then I wish that it would have more of a "turn-of-the-century" feel to it. This is why I posed the question about whether or not the entire hamlet will be going through other cosmetic renovations. Because, as it stands, this ride looks as though they threw every idea that popped into their heads into it. If the signage and color scheme was carried over into the rest of the area to compliment...then I would not be as critical....but, as it is portrayed in the plans....it seems very much out of place. I am not sure who the creative minds are behind some of these clashing elements ( Banbury Cross/"London Rocks"), but, they do not get a thumbs up from me. Festa Italia, just seems tacky to me, when compared to the other areas in the park..it is like there are 3-4 different themes going on in one

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I am increasingly of the opinon that we are giving them far too much credit. I suspect that someone was given a small specific budget and was told to not go over. They spent as much money as they could on a ride and perhaps made a poor choice. In the end they did not have much budget for the man hours required to do a design inquiry and it got passed off to low cost personnel or may have even been part of the whole package.

In short I do not think much thought went into this and they got, what they got, and had not coin to make changes.

In lean times this is what happens when you reach too far exceeds your grasp.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Am I the only one who noticed that the height sing says that says if you're 52 inches you can ride with an adult, and 54 inches to ride alone?

So is this coaster actually gonna have two different heights in order to ride it?

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I didn't think it would, but that's odd to have placeholder text that gives two different ride heights. Or at least to me it is. I haven't seen all that many plans in the past so. lol

It is. For Mach Tower it said if an adult and child sit in the same seat they can ride together. I wonder if they could make it a 52 inch height requirement considering it has premier restraints and possibly seatbelts.

How exactly can an adult and child sit in the same seat on Mach of all rides?

For anyone questioning the theming, the ride theming itself fits far better with the whole Festa theme than Apollo or Rapids do. Its just the execution. The building facade and photo booth look a little too tacky for my tastes. I understand they're trying to go for a carnival motif, but they can do a much better job (see Fear Fair's theming).
