RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I am pretty sure we won't be getting a duel loading station. The one being built at Bosque Magico in Mexico will have a duel loading station. I believe they are using a similar setup to the Mr. Freeze coasters at Six Flags.

That being said, the foot print from what I have seen doesn't have space for this setup. Which also leads me to believe this is why BGW's will have an additional car.

I'd like to see the ride control booth. Mainly because I'm obsessed with them.

I would like to see details of the maintenance area.

I think I remember someone wanting a site plan...

I still can't believe they're going to shoe-horn this ride into that tiny space.

As long as they don't block the space where they held that AMAZING street dance party on Ride Night...

I see one tree, really? Other than that, it seems small and packed.

Those trees you see are existing. Besides this isn't a planting plan (wonder if Zach has that?). Also we should all note how tight the Edge of Work is (black dotted line). They're wedging this thing and all of its complementary parts in between a crapton of existing buildings. I don't expect a tree to survive in that wooded patch, we're all gonna have to just deal with that.

With that said, I see lots of groundcovers and minimal trees in the area coming our way (speculation - but i'm not stupid). Way too many moving parts in that tiny spot to deal with.

One last thing: I am no engineer but I know land grading. Look at how close those new footers will come to AC's. Doesn't that run the risk of destabilizing the ground?

I'm always curious about the electricity usage of rides. I wonder how this model of coaster- especially with more cars- compares to other coasters at the park, it seems that the greater reliance on launches (as opposed to gravity and momentum) would make this ride an electricity hog.

Sure Sky. There is always a risk when you build something 10 feet away from something else. I also am shocked at the location of this ride.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Do you have what is under the ground? If Verbolten can only launch one train at a time then where does the power for this thing come from? Will they have to expand their electrical grid to support this ride?

LIN uses huge power in comparison to "traditional" models. Consider that in a gravity operated Roller Coaster the biggest power consumption comes from the lift motor(s) depending on gearing that really does not have to be a tremendous amount.

More than the megawatts are the caps. The capacitors for these suckers are impressive. There has always been large rides in Festa so they have infrastructure. I will be curious to see if they have to beef it up at all.

The thing is that since the trains aren't going to weigh as much as bolt's trains and the launches here are actually going to be assisted by gravity, I'm not sure that much of an infrastructure upgrade will be required. Granted, I am talking out of my ass so I might totally be wrong about this.

I don't know anything about the parks grid, but I imagine that Festa Italia is not on the same "circuit" at Oktoberfest kinda like your bathroom and kitchen aren't on the same circuit.

It is likely that they run high voltage lines throughout the park and step down in each hamlet, or in some cases at the rides themselves.

When running High VAC the lines can be fairly small in diameter as the resistance will be low and the carry distance will be great. So the limit will likely be the capacity of the transformers.
