If I see one more Coke-a-Cola themed attraction at BGW, I'm going to explode.

I personally don't mind the Coke sponsorship deals. Especially when it's used to create things like Holiday Hills.

Even still, it's better than having the Lawn Mower 3000 over by pompeii.

Oh, wow.  That name brings back some visually striking but viscerally disappointing memories.

I chose the name as a throwback to the old ride that was there since it is the park's 40th anniversary and all. I actually think it's a pretty sweet name.

How long do these coasters take to build, will they be closing off the back section of festa italia late in the season?

Not long, if the weather cooperates they could get the coaster open around this time next year.

Also Netdvn, it's the 40th not 50th. If this ride was being added for the 50th anniversary I think Zach would've shut the site down.

Yeah this won't take long to build. For Superman: Ultimate Flight, track pieces arrived on site at the end of March 2012 and the ride was completed on June 6, 2012. It began testing shortly after on June 15 and it opened to the public on June 30.

So every now and then I mess with photo editing. Using SUF as a starting point and adding in a few details from the plans posted here (thanks for the usage) is A crude rendering of what could be to come. I couldn't get the scale to be exactly how I wanted, I stretched it a bit to make the length pretty close to the plans but didn't want to make it much taller so as to not block any more of AC's lift hill for reference as to general placement in the area. I know the photo editing is not the best so I own up to that right from the start.

I just hope its not placed on a huge concrete pad like the pasted in version shows and as much of the terrain is saved as possible. The immediate loading and launching station will have a slab floor probably.Would be best IMO to have the rest just free supports and track as much as possible. Hope that is the case in the end.

Just my thoughts.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

It will be interesting to see if this ride, at a fraction of the size/cost of other BG coasters, generates a (measurable) uptick in attendance. If it gets the same amount of marketing attention that Verbolten did and the park sees greater numbers, I see three variables at play:

1.) The ride is perceived by the general public as having visual gravitas from outside the park, something Verbolten does not have.

2.) Enough people have been on/seen/heard about S:UF and are enticed by this sort of cheap thrill. Also, keep in mind that YouTube now has a POV of just about any coaster you can imagine, so once word gets out that this is the ride, and people search the ones already standing to see what it does, you have generated interest there.

3.) It goes upside down and has more than one launch sequence = GP satisfied. I have shown the POV's to friends of mine who don't frequent BG, much less any park too often, and they were enamored by the concept of this ride. I'm not defending it, I'm just stating that people are easily entertained and Busch is running with that - and therein lies some disappointment when you look at marvels like AC/Alpengeist/etc.

Cedar Fair saw gains at select parks after adding Windseeker(s). Busch wants a piece of that pie too (right or wrong).

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I agree 100%. When people drive by on I64, and see this new 150 ft attraction behind apollos chariot, that alone will draw guests to it, its eye candy.

I think this could be a successful ride, y'all complain about capacity. If it were that unsuccessful, parks wouldn't continue to get it. I've read all the youtube comments, and people seem to enjoy it. I love BG roller coasters, but none of them are really considered "extreme" or "thrilling" in my eyes. I've never ridden this roller coaster, but it does seem to have the thrill factor, and no matter how much y'all disagree with it. From a business view, this is very smart by BG. It's cheap, it will draw guests if marketed properly. This ride may be a quick buck for BG, but I'm sure BG is looking long-term. Mach Tower and Verbolten didn't turn out how they had hoped, and this is a way to make money for a "real BG" coaster 5 years down the road.

I'm actually excited for this roller coaster, it looks fun and thrilling. And I doubt it's going to be "exactly" the same. It may be the same layout, but BG always adds something unique to each ride experience. I assure you there will be something that separates this one from the others.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I'm wondering if this pushes back our next big coaster. Money's still really tight. Also, does the park take out loans when it builds a new coaster? I would think they do.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

I highly, highly doubt this coaster will be visible from I-64. When I'm driving on I-64 I'm barely able to see Apollo's Chariot, let alone something a little over half its size, and the park isn't even visible from the Westbound side.

I have to agree with Matthew.(Amazing Directions Alert.) You don't even see the park till you're going over the bridge and about to pull into the road where the toll booths are. Still looks amazing every time to see three custom B&M coasters for the skyline. Now we have to look at a tacky premier carnival ride. I would've rather seen a tacky intamin at least...

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

No Connor, I was referring to redsoxfan787, I think he meant Route 60, I understood what you were talking about though and I do agree, it really isn't until you get to see anything of the park. That said, I think the problem with that is because 64 is lined with very tall trees and such, plus at that point on 64 you are starting to go downhill so you really can't see far off to any sides.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Really, only locals who live in the Williamsburg area drive on Route 60, and a lot of them probably already come to the park regularly, so it won't get too much exposer. At least not as much as it was seeming to imply in that post.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

The dog gone thing needs to be next to Pompeii and have some kind of volcano theme. Not shoved up Apollo's rear! They should just put it on the roof of the Pompeii event building if they want everybody in the state to see it.

You should really talk to some of the higher ups about this amazing idea. I would rather see them make the roof taller and extend the building so they could fit it in there. That way it could be themed and riders would have no clue to what the ride would be like.

RE: Project 2015: Premier Rides Coaster for Festa Italia

Route 60, my bad. It would still be visible from 64, just not as much. And people, calm down. Y'all are blowing this way out of proportion. BG is getting a new roller coaster for their 40th year. It's a clone? Who cares, BG has never owned one. I'm honestly excited for this ride, it looks like a fun ride.

How can something be judged on appearance that doesn't even exist yet? It may have the same footer layout, but it doesn't mean it's going to look "exactly" the same.

No, not really. Not at all in fact.

If this were 2 or 3 years ago, I would probably be protesting inside the park, rioting Carl's office, and sending hate mail to corporate. And so would about half of the rest of this site, but we seem to be settling more, and more for mediocrity.

You may not, but I do. Listen to your words, they're getting a clone for their 40th year, I have never heard anything more saddening.

BG has never owned one.

Thanks for telling us for the 50th time.
