RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Well I'll throw in my own prediction in the off chance that I'm right so I can brag about it.

My money's on this: http://www.moserrides.com/thrillrides/sidewinder/sidewinder.htm

For one, it fits in with the whole festa carnival ride thing. It also isn't a completely terrible ride, I actually think they're pretty fun. I also can't believe that the park would invest money into another flat or small coaster when it really wouldn't help attendance. Enter moser. There's a very good chance that we have money left over from the whole Mach tower debacle. Also you'll notice that the ride has a bunch of different themes that are pretty generic for most fun spot type attractions, but there's one weird one.

Italian.

Even if it's free? Seems like they're willing to do much worse things than that if it means saving some money

Yeah- perhaps you shouldn't listen to me given that my faith in the park has already seemed to betray me once this week.

I think BG is beginning to feel desperate because kings dominion is kicking their ass at their own game. I don't care what kind've ride it is, I don't want anything close to AC. It would take the beauty away from it. How about a complete renovation of festa Italia? It looks like complete garbage. KD wouldn't even except an area like that now. I am so irritated with busch gardens. Nothing about it is the same, it will never be the same as when AB owned the park. Instead of adding a new ride out or desperation how about you get a drop tower that's worth having?

I apologize for babbling on about this, I've just had it up to here with the things going on at BG

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

It's not a lattice like structure, either. Basically discounts any chance of a giant Frisbee, Discovery, or anything similar to those. Unless they're adding that giant bell swing I posted earlier in this thread.

Maybe will get a renovation for Festa with the ride? ( Don't get you're hopes up, we are talking about Busch Gardens.) Though this better have a good Que because the capacity for this thing isn't the best.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Hey, if they are willing to mess with theming for a show, maybe some work on Festa is planned to go with this coaster

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I still think Moser likely promised BGW a free ride as part of the Mach Tower "settlement". BUT that is 100% personal opinion. I definitely agree that the Sidewinder is not "lattice like", even though I think it would make sense in that space. My money's still on the Zamperla swing.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

If it's a Zamperla swing, That's just... Sad. And it makes absolutely no sense, considering windseeker.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I wouldn't mind something like a Huss Condor... There aren't enough of those around.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

The Condors used to be stupidly popular back in the 1980s, it's really a shame they haven't been built much recently because the eurofair versions are downright scary to ride.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I agree the addition of a Premier LIM is not a world class decision/addition if this turns out true, but someome in the management is obviously weary of having such a "medium" cache of coasters. If you think about it, the park  now has (almost) as many coasters as it has removed:(Glissade, Wildkatz, Wild Maus, Drachen Fire, BBW vs. what we have today. Do I think we could use another good B&M or Gerstlauer? Sure. Does the park want higher attendance? Absolutely. Will seemingly random small coasters achieve that goal? Unlikely.

We are in a new age of "catch" up it seems, and to remain competitive now appears to mean shirking off the creatively themed coaster genius mindset that we saw in 1997-1999 in favor of cheap thrills. If this turns out to be a well-honed flat, then we know the park may be in a better spot than it seems a Premier LIM may portray. Lots of variables here, but I am of the opinion that the park will need to keep its cadre of rides compelling and not 3-4 years in between with quality additions, but what quality means to you and me VS the powers that be are different things. :-/

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I'd rule out a Gerstlauer for pretty much any project in the US, even Knoebel's avoided them for their 2015 project. They're worse off than Intamin is at the moment in the States.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

I am not reading through 64 pages in this thread, so I do not know if this has been addressed. I have printed out, "HEIGHT WAIVER-0002-2013. Busch Gardens 2015 Festa Italia Attraction Staff Report." It states, "Given that the attraction is proposed as an open, lattice-type structure and that it is not in close proximity to adjacent properties, staff finds that the proposed structure will not obstruct light from adjacent property."

This rules out the possibility of a Superman: Ultimate Flight replica. Getting a giant Frisbee, Discovery, or anything similar to those sounds like a very real possibility.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Except the frisbees aren't anything close to lattice like structures, they're 4 steel beams connected to a swinging gondola. SU:F is a lot closer to 'lattice-like' than any giant frisbee.

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Okay, you are definitely right about that. Now to rephrase, the ride will definitely be a lattice-like structure :p

RE: Project 2015: 156ft Tall Festa Italia Attraction

Lattice defined....a structure of crossed wooden or metal strips usually arranged to form a diagonal pattern of open spaces between the strips.
